i love buying gifts to my friends and family (those who are out) .
and best of all, this year i've got a boyfriend.
His aversion to turtlenecks ran very deep
it caused him a pill to need for some sleep
He ranted and raved at those who embraced
the holiday trappings that soured his face
he never quite knew just what he was missing
as JW's the season delighted in dissing
one day he will see that all of life's pleasures
are worth more than gold and truly treasures

I absolutely love Christmas!! I have since I first started celebrating after leaving the dubs. Before my children were born. They are adults now, and I still love it! The smells, the chill in the air, the lights, being able to indulge in present giving and .........receiving! A lot of the music is wonderful, and I love seeing the same movies every year. I don't believe in god, it's all about the season change and setting aside a time to think about nothing but peace and love and cookies! I make a ton every year and widen my circle of neighbors to give to. We always do several giving tree gifts, and food drives.
we learn from the bible that god spoke to adam ,then certain faithful ones,then after moses only the preisthood that was established,and individuals, raised as prophets,and this by the way is only a a small select group on the planet.never mind about other groups of humans.
fastforward to the era of christ ,again, god is only dealing with a small select group to advise and admonish.during the time from moses to christ he was only dealing with what became one small nation.the rest of humankind were left to their own devices.fastforward down to this 21st century we have no guidance/instruction/prophets to instruct or guide us.
( i know this is where jw`s would say but we have been preaching & teaching you god`s truths since 1879 ) all i can say their, is take your head out of the sand and look at all the changes ,corrections adjustments,re-adjustments,reversals,and failed expectations of prophecy you have published over this last century )so as to my question why hasn`t the god of the universe revealed himself to all humans of every race on all continents instead of just a small select group, if he truly was interested in the human race.
This reminds me of when I was a witness child. If my mind ever wandered on to things that didn't seem to make sense, I would beat myself up and say "stop thinking like that, you are weak, weak!"
As for the miracles or revelations continuing to occur and being dismissed, isn't that the point? The same miracles you would reveal to a child (ancient man) would be easily fathomed by an adult. So as man is more sophisticated shouldn't the miracles be also?

Every religion living or dead has some form of those fables. Some from long before the bible was written. Why did all the miracles stop at the point that man developed the capacity to understand and communicate? Only ancient man was given the opportunity to have him revealed? That's like pulling a coin out of a toddlers ear, and saying it's magic.

Aaaah I think Nathan is exactly correct. Terry hit it. If we were without the idea of god, things would be better. The world is without god, it is the notion that causes so much trouble.

Personally I believe the world would be a bit better than it is today.
it didnt take a lot of independant research, along with a life full of ridiculous experiences in the religion, to realize that the organization and its gb are just another religion focused on control and conformity.
so why do i keep digging into the insanity and contradictions that they're based on.
i think i know why, just want to hear how others feel..
Personally, I think time and really educating yourself is the answer. Not necessarily education on the JW's, but religion, history etc. I was born in, I've always said I feel like the years after I left were like coming out of a cave I had lived in my whole life. I did do a pretty extreme crash course in life after I left, but I wouldn't change a minute of it.

The thing is, most of the good times had nothing to do with being a JW, and would probably have been more numerous had we not been. I did enjoy the conventions, because of the social aspect, and the dramas. And the crappy food.
