i guess if you can blame human evil on bad spirits, then you should blame human kindness on good spirits?.

not to disparage the act this guy did, but people can be kind.

villagegirl's question on another thread was probably supposed to be rhetorical but i want to respond to it.. many times people of faith express similar misapprehensions about those who don't share their views on eternity.. i want this to be a positive thread.

an opportunity for atheists to share what moves and inspires them.

what do you live for, what gives your life meaning and purpose?

I often wonder if Xtians are simply putting in their time, like a job they don't enjoy, just waiting for the payoff. They seem to be either fearful of or disgusted with the world around them and the people in it.

What Would a Country Run by Evangelical Christianity Look Like?

on an earlier thread i made the statement that, "an evangelical christian government would look a lot like the taliban".. laika asked me incredulously, "do you really think your friends from your old church would govern like the taliban!?".

i thought it was a really interesting question and might work as a separate thread.. the people i worshipped with were mostly a nice bunch of people, but the thought of them having secular power would make me shudder.. christianity is mostly harmless because it lacks power.

christian politicians are restrained by secular laws and constitutions.

Jgnat it's aleady worse than that now in red states. If they really had power, I don't doubt they would go much much farther.

Good point - if evangelical christians had authority over the Department for Education what would the curriculum look like?
