Those were interesting quotes. Could you kindly give the names and dates of the publications containing those quotes?
Thanks in advance,

my flyers merely said: if as a jehovahs witness, a member of your family has been molested information is available for further information see: www.silentlambs.org or call 1-877-wtabuse.. nothing overtly inflammatory, actually more like a public service announcement.. i guess thats what most of the local organizers and friends thought in my neck of the, woods for the first two days of the district convention!
but once the 'friends' realized that the website i was promoting with my flyers and moving car billboard was not an approved wt site, the powers that be got ... well ... pissed is the word!.
nobody bothered me on friday as i went smiling about my posting flyers on the light and utility poles on the routes to/from the convention site.

for along time i wondered are there jw out there who are skipping sat am and going for the cup of coffee in the bathrob and surfing the net to count time?.
well i found it- .
damn - why didn't i think of counting time when i was a jw i could have avg at least 40hours a month like you know and fred hall.
Hi JT,
Well, as any of us who spent any significant amount of our life as a loyal J-Dub can testify, we know how valued an impressive Time Card is. It is the key to climbing the Theokratik ladder for some, and for others it provides a means by which they can LOOK DOWN on those who don't put in as much TIME. Those considered spiritually strong consider themselves as better Christians.
The "hours" mean more than anything else as this one JW commented on working rural territory "So there's lots of travel time involved (good if you pioneer, yes?)" - got that at WOL under a thread about "moving to where the need is greater"

how can the witnesses claim jesus returned in 1914 when the bible makes it clear in matt 24 that no one will have to tell us, we will know, just as lightening can be seen streaking across the sky, and all can see it, so will his return be.
followed by acts which tells us that just as jesus was taken up in glory so he shall return.. any jw's wanna do this one?.
yeru.
Yeru, predicting dates seems to be a common denominator that religious leaders share. It is one of the main if not most important tools that are used to gather and control a following. It's not just limited to JWs. If you look at the origins of other movements, such as the LDS or the SDA (which both have similarities to JW) you will find that the founders successfully portrayed themselves as having the God-ordained power to come up with SPECIFIC DATES, and this is what provided the main impetus for these movements. (You know, sense of urgency etc.)
I think the conflict arises because things like date predictions and doctrines unique to their own respective denominations become part of the gospel message they are made obliged to spread.
In reality though, very little of what constitutes the body of doctrine of a sect like JWs, for instance, has much to do with the actual gospel.

i stumbled across this site doing research for a paper.
you all have much greater problems and common mental flaws than just being "former" jw's.. let me explain.
many (i won't generalize all of you) of you are on here ranting and raving about the jw's did this and the wt did that.
Hi Amused1,
Although I'm in a bit of a rush this morning (I have to leave for a one-week gig out-of-town), I feel I have to respond to your post.
Although some people may be able to walk away from the organization with little or no impact on their life, there are many more who suffer the consequences due to the Society policy of shunning. Now I don't know how important family is to YOU, but for many people the destruction of family relationships because of the shunning policy is great cause for pain. Not everyone is able to dismiss it as easily as you.
Aside from shunning, there are other reasons some feel anger - and justifiably so - towards the Society.
- loss of a friend or family member because medical proceedures that are now allowed weren't at the time.(Organ transplants, blood fractions that were once forbidden could have saved lives)
- JWs were imprisoned because they weren't allowed the option of alternative military service, another flip-flop courtesy of the Society.
- those who took to heart - particularly in the late 60's to mid70's - Society encouragement to abandon the pursuit of decent careers or education in favour of the "Kingdom work". (There are many older JWs living in virtual poverty now because they sold their homes, made no plans for their retirement etc. because they BELIEVED, again due to FOOD from the FDS that it wouldn't be necessary.
That is just a short list of how membership in the WT cult has profoundly affected in a negative way the lives of many people.
I'm happy for you if you never had to suffer personally because of Society policy. But many others aren't so lucky, and it would take a real ASSHOLE to belittle those come here to share their pain and experiences caused by their involvement with this cult.

Hi BugEye,
I take it that you don't have a set of "commandments" yet.
I would like one of them to be "Thou shall go fishing at every opportunity" followed by "Thou shall clean thine own fish". Do you think you could fit them in somewhere, possibly after the orgy stuff?

Fred,
It was probably refreshing for these JW women to talk with someone on the same emotional level...;)
just a little thought on that subject.
is that like you wouldn't take "snow white and the 7 dwarfs" literal?
comparing the bible to a fairy tale, or myth?
Hi patio34,
Adam being the first human: WRONG! It can be easily affirmed that
humans have been on this planet much, much longer than 6000 yrs.
Now when this book we call the "Bible" gets off on the "wrong
foot", so to speak, can one honestly expect the rest of it to be
any different?

apostasy has been the devil's most effective means of fighting against the truth.
after all, time and time again the devil was able to lure the israelites away from the worship of jehovah and in to all sorts of idol worship and whatnot.
some anointed christians in the 1st century were also induced to become antichrists.
Hi You Know,
You said: "It is generally just the interpretaion of prophecies
that have gotten them in trouble."
Not really. What has gotten them into trouble is claiming to speak
for God. That includes basic doctrine as well as prophecy.
