Hi Perry,
Oprah too....Dr. Phil even, who's to say Jesus doesn't have any issues;)

if one were to take the bible very literally as some folks do with regard to the scripture that says a thousand years is but one day to god, then the notion that god would send his "son" down to earth when he did imo doesn't seem too brilliant a move on god's part.
i can picture jesus saying "hey dad, if we wait a couple of days we can do this live on cnn.
maybe you could pull a few strings and i could get on larry king live, maybe even the tonight show...you know, do a couple of miracles and the whole crucification thing live via satellite - the whole world could see it all at once - if we do it your way it could take a couple thousand human years to spread the good news.

Now, if they would just go after the oil companies...

when i was a jw i was so impressed with all the research into even the tiniest of details.
i couldn't believe how smart the brothers were!!
even when i left i thought i at least i learned the bible and bible trivia well.
Sorry Jurs,
Yeah, I can believe that some of those folks lived in caves. Wood was probably at a premium due to the fact there's not a whole lot of bush in that part of the world...
It just struck me funny how you said your friend was a "strict Mormon" - in my mind that would be a liability in the credibility dept. lol

Hi Jurs,
:"She's a strict Mormon"
Bwahahahaha!!!!
The Mormons have no more of a clue than do the JWs...
Aside from the doctrinal differences, the "We are the ONLY ONES with the truth" mindset make them pretty much interchangeable. You should go to a Mormon/ex-Mormon (LDS) discussion board and see how eerily similar these two cults are.

Yup, she got her hand inside his trousers, alright...;)
i would say that i get up each morning in a pretty good mood.
i get ready for work, drive there and then go about my business.
because people want to give you the anger to make them feel like others are having a bad day too, when you bounce it away.
Hi Kenpodragon,
If you were really pissed about something and vented to an acqaintance, would you consider it as handing over your "ball of anger"?
For me, it would depend on whether or not the one "venting" is trying to get the listener to "take sides" on an issue they have with someone else with the intent of getting the listener to hate the one they are having an issue with, or just simply venting "to let off some steam".
The person doing the listening can ultimately decide if this "ball of anger", as you put it, gets handed over. If he/she gets involved in any way with the issue at hand beyond just simply listening, then I guess the "ball" does get handed over.

i just have to do some venting on those other moron drivers!
no cotton pickin common sense!
people try to cut you off only to stop right ahead of you!
Here in Alberta, most of our two-lane blacktops have paved shoulders wide enough that one can safely drive on them at highway speeds. So whenever I notice someone coming up behind me and there's oncoming traffic, instead of waiting for the oncoming traffic to pass, out of courtesy I will pull over and let the guy pass me. It really PISSES ME OFF when the dude decides to hang back and not take the opportunity to pass.

if the watchtower claims it only does what the bible says.
and does not "go beyond the things that are written", then by.
what authority does it encourage the baptism of teenagers?.
Hi metatron,
It's a real joke - and a sad one at that. Even Jesus - used repeatedly by the Society as an example for all to follow - didn't get baptized until well after he reached adulthood.
For any lurkers who don't know much about JWs, this is how it works:
1. One can't be disfellowshipped (excommunicated) unless he/she is a baptized baptized member.
2. The threat of disfellowshipping is a very powerful tool the Society uses to keep members from straying. Remember, JWs live in a very closed environment - most don't have any friends outside of the organization - so to be shunned by the only people you know is something to be avoided at all costs.
3. So if the Society can get members to become baptized at an early age, they pretty much - in most cases - have them for life. And that translates into MONEY for the organization, since the member is going to buy a copy of everything the Society puts to print - books, magazines, every latest edition of the New World Translation (the Society's version of the Bible) etc. Not to mention the amount of money in the way of donations this member will contribute during the course of his/her life.
It's all about money, money, money....
