Elders in wealthy lands may find it difficult to encourage baptized brothers in their 20’s or 30’s to do more in the congregation. Ex- perienced elders in about 20 lands told us why they believe that some young brothers do not do more in the congregation. Most of them said that when some brothers were young, their parents did not encour- age them to set goals in Jehovah’s ser- vice. And when some young brothers wanted to do more, their parents en- couraged them to set goals involving higher education or a career in the world! So service to God never came first in their lives.—Matthew 10:24.

Have JW relatives disinherited you? (especially Canadian)
by berrygerry ininteresting court case whereby the entire will was declared void because the father was racist.. would that not also apply to jw's who disinherit their non-jw family?.

Interesting case. I guess it would be similar if one child was disinherited because of sexual orientation. -

@cappytan
Then just turned the phone up briefly to see if anyone was disfellowshipped/reinstated or if there were any letters read.
Bet you'd spit out your coffee if your name was read

Does anyone have any information on lawsuits in regards to JW's victimizing the mentally ill?
by lme123 ini am a former jw, 14 years removed.
i moved out of state away from my jw family for 10 years, and currently moved back to my home town 2 years ago.
it was a great healing process for me, especially being away from all of the confusing and controversial influences i was raised with.

I do know in some congregations publishers who show signs of mental illness are falsely accused of secret sins causing their mental illness. -

GB says, "Our way of worship will soon be altered."
by Separation of Powers inmy mom called me yesterday to ask how i was doing.
i hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to hear her voice.
we went through the motions of jw small talk and then she started telling me about her co visit from last week.

You may have some valid points Juan.
In days past in rural areas small congregations would work very hard to have their own Kingdom Hall. It was their pride and joy.
I guess it just doesn't fit into the corporate strategy anymore. I hope these new changes wake up some folks.

Is Watchtowers view & practices currently split in two? Split leadership direction?
by thedepressedsoul ini've been deeply following jw "culture" the last 2 years and i am getting the impression that the leadership is currently split in two different directions.
on one hand you get this sense of a happy, joyful and less strict religion and on the other hand there is still this strict, harsh religion of the past.
let me explain more.. there have been a lot of video's lately that show dancing in kingdom halls, bethel dancing to the "happy" song, jw.org downplaying their beliefs and making it sound like daisies.

The public watchtower study watchtower split is where the two sides of the watchtower really became noticeable IMHO. What I see now is the jw website is a complete 180 from how the religion is really practiced.
The website says we don't shun former believers, we don't gain salvation by our preaching work and we can let our conscience guide us when we choose entertainment.

The contempt of Anthony Morris: the face doesn't lie.
by freemindfade ini have noticed something even long before even looking into ttatt, something about morris bothered me.
i am personally very attuned to body language, facial expressions and general subtleties in human interaction.
there was something about his face that really bothered me, and i will explain it.

I used to have a boss that curled his lip like that. He really thought he was superior to his lowly employees. Unfortunate for him he was too clueless to figure out his key employees were giving him a free ride. When the middle managers quit all hell broke loose and the arrogant sob was escorted out of the office by the owners of the company. -

by Crazyguy init seams like every time i turn around i find out that the elders are trying to meet with one of my kids or are talking with them about things and of course my wife is instigating it.
if i say anything to my children she mentions something and they come running.
one of the ms's is also studying with them as well.

I say the same. Study with your kids. That way you control the content.

Special pioneer stipend
by wannaexit inhow much do they get for their 120 hours of door banging?
-
hoser
They get a small amount that is barely enough to live on but it is against the rules for them to work a part time job to supplement their income.
Oh rly?
Someone better tell the SPs in our area - they all work part time jobs.
Maybe they don't let "mother" know that....
It is a canada thing. Andre ramsayer is a big wig at the branch and apparantly he doesn't like special pioneers working.
