Have JW relatives disinherited you? (especially Canadian)
by berrygerry ininteresting court case whereby the entire will was declared void because the father was racist.. would that not also apply to jw's who disinherit their non-jw family?.

My inlaws have disinherited my wife because she won't do as they wish. Ffs she's a grown woman and can make her own choices.
The good thing is that they told us while we are still young enough to plan for a decent retirement. In fact when the in laws told us they were giving it all to the wtbs it woke us up that we had to hussle and get educated and make better money. Now they complain that we work too much.

A few more random thoughts on the new Kingdom Hall design meeting
by sir82 inleft completely unsaid at the meeting: who is going to be the owner of the property & building when all of these new khs are built?
in the current arrangement, in most cases, a local trust is set up to hold ownership.
of course, the most likely answer is "the watchtower (or whatever shell corporations they set up) will own the land & building".

They mentioned in one of the dozen or so PowerPoint / video clips that right up to the last second, some brothers on the [whatever committee was in charge of making the decision] were still convinced that a "residential style" of Kingdom Hall was the way to go. Then they offered a prayer. Then the chairman of the committee asked "who wants the residential style", and not one hand went up. He then asked "who wants the commercial style" and all the hands went up.
This is 100% bullshit. This meeting may not have ever happened. This is an appeal to authority to quell dissent. If any elder questions this arrangement he is questioning Holy Spirit.

Being "raised in the truth" a blessing?
by What is Truth? inhow might you respond to the following survey?.
i apologize if this was already posted about, it is just such a poignant issue i wanted to share it.. .
being raised in the truth being raised a witness-perhaps "from infancy," like timothy-is a great blessing.

I'll answer # 9. Renee never wanted to be a missionary. Her parents wanted her to be a missionary so they would have bragging rights at the next circuit assembly.
Its all a big show.

Having seen a few congregation mergers/closures in the past few years I believe the wt has a master plan in place to screw/rob members of their money. They shift boundaries around and move people in and out of areas so that congregations are set up to fail. Then the Kingdom Hall is sold and money sent to headquarters.
Shortly there is a need for a new building and the locals are guilted into giving once again. Ive seen this happen more than once.

So it is business as usual. Sell off the residential style Kingdom Halls, pocket the money, and guilt the publishers into donating for the new commercial style buildings.
Lather, bend over, rinse, repeat

Elders in wealthy lands may find it difficult to encourage baptized brothers in their 20’s or 30’s to do more in the congregation. Ex- perienced elders in about 20 lands told us why they believe that some young brothers do not do more in the congregation. Most of them said that when some brothers were young, their parents did not encour- age them to set goals in Jehovah’s ser- vice. And when some young brothers wanted to do more, their parents en- couraged them to set goals involving higher education or a career in the world! So service to God never came first in their lives.—Matthew 10:24.

Interesting case. I guess it would be similar if one child was disinherited because of sexual orientation. -

Then just turned the phone up briefly to see if anyone was disfellowshipped/reinstated or if there were any letters read.
Bet you'd spit out your coffee if your name was read

Does anyone have any information on lawsuits in regards to JW's victimizing the mentally ill?
by lme123 ini am a former jw, 14 years removed.
i moved out of state away from my jw family for 10 years, and currently moved back to my home town 2 years ago.
it was a great healing process for me, especially being away from all of the confusing and controversial influences i was raised with.

I do know in some congregations publishers who show signs of mental illness are falsely accused of secret sins causing their mental illness.
