We have a nearby hall that started doing this. The result is that people who were running late because of work or other obligations on Wednesday night stopped attending those meetings.

most of the members live nearby, but the ones in the outskirts have up to a 1 hour trip depending on beach traffic.
recently the wife and i noticed that the hall's parking lot had been secured by a wall and electric gates added to all three exits and entrances.

while its true that roughly 400 million chinese have attained a living standard approximating the usa, there is still another 700 million who have not.. every year, some 100 million chinese take overseas holidays.
and, many millions of chinese live overseas, either as students or as representatives of chinese companies.. but of the 700 million who have not achieved something like western prosperity, some 90 million still live in poverty, leaving 610 million struggling between poverty and a low level of prosperity.. until they can live more comfortably, the chinese government must focus on building a more prosperous nation.. .

Do the Rank & File JW's REALLY read and understand the bible to be able to REALLY start a study with someone???
by ADJUSTMENTS ini believe the average rank & file are illiterate when it come to the bible because they are so used to using the wbats cliff notes... even though i believe the bible is a fiction novel, at least be able to explain a novel you hold is such high regard: i mean jesus!!!

It is a paint by numbers approach to bible study. You can paint like a master, just put the right colors in the right places.
Same thing with a "bible study". Read paragraph, ask question, householder gives answer, repeat.

They were comparing who was in "the truth" the longest, who pioneered where and for how long. How many generations of jehovahs witnesses they were. As it went on they drank more wine and the bs got thicker. One would say their kid pioneered such and such a place then the other couple would up them by saying their kid is a missionary in the Congo.
I had to get up and leave. I just couldn't take it anymore.

by hoser ini recently went to a wedding and listened to the wedding talk at the kingdom hall the couple had both heard the talk before as they were both married in kingdom halls before.
this is his second time and her third.
the advice given.

I believe that most JW's are ill-equipped to be good marriage mates due to what they learn about marriage from magazines, books and kingdom hall meetings.
It doesn't help that some of the books on marriage have been written by bethelites who have either never been married or if they are married have never had to make it work in the real world. -

You're absolutely correct outlaw. Jw marriages are set up to fail. Then when they do fail it is because you weren't doing enough service/ personal study/submission etc etc etc
