Restrictions
by snugglebunny inwhat kind of restrictions are people put under when their behaviour has been considered worthy of disfellowshipping but have managed to avoid the big "d"?.
me (going back a bit):.
1. never to be in the company of the lady unchaperoned although we were "betrothed".. 2. removed from ministerial servants position.. 3. not allowed to pray in the congregation at all, including book study.. 4. removed as watchtower study conductor.. 5. removed as public speaker and talks at service meetings.. 6. removed as pioneer.. 7. report to po once a month.. amazingly, i missed none of those things and relished the freedom from responsibility.

I bought booze when I was barely legal. Some of my underage jw friends got into my stash when I was at work and got drunk and some hanky panky went on with some teenage jw girls and guys. Even though I wasn't there it was my fault somehow. I
got removed as a pioneer
couldnt say the prayer at the meetings
i could still comment

Do WT Publications Make Us Feel Unworthy, Unlovable and Helpless?
by jp1692 init is my contention that the wtbts, (as do all high-control, authoritarian cults), deliberately cultivates dysfunctional beliefs among its members.
in particular, the most destructive of these beliefs are those that undermine one's feelings of self-worth.
for a research project i am doing, i am looking for direct quotes from wt publications that seem to be specifically designed to manipulate the readers into feeling: unworthy, unlovable, inadequate and/or helpless.

As a born in, being told that I was unworthy was my "normal". Only after checking out of the jehovahs Witness cult mentally did I realize how deranged this organization really is.

What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

Puff the magic dragon was bad because it is about cannibas which is bad unless it is prescribed by a doctor then it is still bad if you are jw.

Spiritual Welfare

One of the first rental properties I owned was vacant during a downturn. I was criticized for buying it but then was asked by the elders if a needy "spiritual" family could move in at reduced rent. At the time I was still easily suckered so it happened. One of the first things they did was buy a big tv and an entertainment centre while claiming to not be able to afford full rent. They stayed about 6 months, never did change the utilities into their name and left me a mess to clean up. I figure I lost a couple grand on the deal
Lesson learned.

This video was full of class distinctions. A Latino construction worker looked down upon by the Asian guy in financial services. Or was it the other way around.
The wife of the Asian accountant played the part well of an entitled middle class bitch

"Privileges"
by minimus inwithin the organization, jehovah's witnesses know that they must be dutiful and set an example for "worldly ones" as well as for their own brotherhood.
if a witness fails in setting the proper example, they may lose some 'privileges"..... what privileges did you look to have and what privileges did you lose?
?.

A buddy of mine put in the 90 hours a month without being a pioneer. It pissed off the elders and circuit overseer that he refused to sign up as a pioneer. He finally signed up as a pioneer after putting in big hours for a couple of years. He pioneered for a few months and quit. He is a marginal jw now

What do You Think About Hybrid and Electric Cars?
by Village Idiot inbattery technology has been making leaps and bounds in affordability and energy output throughout the past decade.
while pure electric cars currently have limited range, the near future holds prospects for longer ranges.
hybrids, and recently plug in hybrids, have a mileage of up to 50 mpg* giving them a range of 500 miles from a ten gallon gas tank.

What you said is incorrect bohm. For every person like me there are 100 who drive only short distances. That is why there is a market for this product.
