What is the worst type of work or job you have ever had to do?
by stuckinarut2 inwe all need to earn a living.... so just curious, what is the worst type of work or job you have ever had to do?.

The worst job is the one I'm doing right now. I'm CEO of a small company. My job is basically to keep the shareholders and employees from robbing the company blind.

I was asked to say a prayer at the meeting. Lol.

Some prayers really annoy me
by stillin ini realize that prayer is a really personal thing, but representing a group in prayer has become so full of cliche's that i just want to vomit sometimes.
co week almost every prayer has the phrase "special week of activity" in it.. then there's "please look after the sick and afflicted.".
not so much anymore, "please bless this food and the hands that prepared it.".

Public prayers are nothing but ass kissing and bragging. The longer the prayer apparently the more spiritual the person who says it.
The pain at the last prayer of the last day of the convention is effin unbearable.

How do you get over all the things that you missed? The stuff you can't get back
by JW_Rogue inlook my life is not bad but sometimes i just think about all the normal things i missed out on.
and no i'm not talking about christmas and birthday parties.
i'm talking about your first kiss happening in your twenties instead of your teens.

I'm not sure if I have any regrets or if I missed out on fun. I really didn't have a lot of choices. I was programmed to be a mental slave and sex, drugs and university were taboo.
Ive only had sex with one woman, but we've had a stable relationship for close to 30 years and raised some well mannered apostate offspring. I did try mj a couple of years ago as well as smoked a pack of cigarettes. The drugs do nothing for me and the smokes were nothing spectacular.
I've tried the slots, no thrill there. Those machines just end up taking all my money. I quit drinking because I got sick and tired of waking up sick and tired.
I did go to university. For one day. It was on a school trip in grade 12. I am surprised my jw family let me go. I told myself that if I ever was down on my luck and out of a job I'd go back to school. It hasn't happened yet. I might get a degree someday. I'm not totally ruling it out.
I work in a very specialized line of work that there is currently no university or college training for. Most apprentices drop out because it is fairly demanding and can be unpleasant at times. I am paid well for what I do.
If I wasn't a jw as a teenager would my life be better?

Shit flows downhill. Circuit overseers are nothing but middle managers for the watchtower corporation.
I'm sure they get royally crapped on too when they don't report growth and profitability to the head Borg.

What made you stay "in" even when you knew it wasn't the "truth"?
by mentalclarity inso i've been thinking a lot about why i stayed a jw for so long even though i had always had doubts about the doctrines.
i was born into the religion, left and came back as an adult for another decade.
some of the things that come to mind (besides the threat of shunning-and this isn't to minimize that very real threat) was:.

What is behind your choice of forum user name?
by stuckinarut2 injust curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.

Mine started out as hosed which is a Canadian prairie term that means to be cheated, tricked or taken advantage of. Being raised a jw I most certainly was hosed.
When I was setting up the account my finger must have slipped up to the r on the keyboard and By divine providence I was logged in as hoser defined as an uncouth beer drinking Canadian. It pretty much sums up my personality.

My SIL got an elder removed. He didn't follow procedure on a Jc. She phoned someone she knew at the branch and next week he was removed.
