Im not pretending to believe anything. I know it's all a lie. Bullshit as we call it in these parts. I stay in good standing for selfish reasons and along the way I have helped many of my loved ones wake up which would not have happened if I were an outsider.
i realize that prayer is a really personal thing, but representing a group in prayer has become so full of cliche's that i just want to vomit sometimes.
co week almost every prayer has the phrase "special week of activity" in it.. then there's "please look after the sick and afflicted.".
not so much anymore, "please bless this food and the hands that prepared it.".

the relationship between local elders and the circuit overseer has fluctuated over the years.
in the sixties, .
the circuit overseer simply appointed all the servants.
I have a story about how it all works.
Brother H was a pioneer, elder and gave talks on the conventions and assemblies. He was a very polished speaker and very zealous for the truth. He would move to congregations where there was a need for elders. He was in our little congregation and was moving on to another after being there for a couple of years.
The remaining elder body consisted of two older brothers and they would not give brother H a recommendation letter to serve. It turns out that brother H was taking advantage of some of the older brothers and sisters financially to enrich himself.
The circuit overseer was good buddies with brother H and came specially to meet with the two older elders. They made the co aware of their reservations. Circuit overseer said that's not how it works in the organization. He wrote a letter of recommendation and forced the two elders hands by threatening to close the congregation.
Fast forward a few years brother H is caught cheating on his wife with a younger pioneer sister and his wife rats him out to the authorities and he is charged with embezzling money.
watchtower october 2017, par 11, page 28 - "very soon the political powers of satan’s world will form a coalition that is bent on the destruction of god’s people.

The great tribulation that no one ever talks about is the one recorded at acts 7:11. It is the lost tribulation.

When I pray for the congregation I never ask for forgiveness. That's what jebus died for, if he even ever existed.

one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.
I know of a lot of deaths of young people in the "truth" that were highly suspicious and I think were covered over. Died of a rare flu according to the congregation but nothing said in the media about it.
I do know of a young woman who jumped off a bridge and a young guy that shot himself shortly after. Sad.

i have heard stories and it seems like these were mostly in the 70's and 80's before my time.
i couldn't imagine.
I remember 4 days and some evening sessions from the late 60's.
we all need to earn a living.... so just curious, what is the worst type of work or job you have ever had to do?.
The worst job is the one I'm doing right now. I'm CEO of a small company. My job is basically to keep the shareholders and employees from robbing the company blind.

Public prayers are nothing but ass kissing and bragging. The longer the prayer apparently the more spiritual the person who says it.
The pain at the last prayer of the last day of the convention is effin unbearable.
