  i am interested in the approach this forum takes to money.

  apart from sex, (which i am quite relaxed about) it seems to me that wealth is the surest divider between those who are moral, and those who are not.. it seems jesus thought so, also.

  luke 16:19-31 kjv describes well enough his dusty attitude to the rich who do not succour the poor.. and this world has many poor: so many, it might seem that we can do nothing about it, and twist his words; 'the poor ye shall have always with you, but me, ye shall not have always.

  Sorry for the disparaging comment but I couldn’t resist.

  I feel that under your plan humanity would be worse off. Here in Canada we are debating a minimum income. A no questions asked guaranteed monthly payment of $1500.00. I have a question about it though. Who pays? Where does the money come from? The taxpayer.

  We are already experiencing a severe labour shortage in some industries. The agriculture sector is short 60000 workers now and it is projected to be 120000 in 10 years time.

  If we pay people to stay at home why would they remotely think about doing the unpleasant tasks required for food production.

  At the other end of the spectrum people like me in the ag business would have to pay more income taxes to support those who choose to take only basic income. So we would work less as well. Why bust your ass all weekend long for nothing when you can sit at the beach and drink beer?

  As some posters already commented this has been tried in the Soviet Union and China and their people have literally starved to death.

  Russia and the Ukraine have some of the most fertile land in the world but in the 1970’s and 1980’s the Canadian Government gifted them millions of tonnes of wheat so that they could feed their people. It was found out after the fact that the farm workers on the collective farms were deliberately sabotaging their production by not applying their fertilizer to the land They were digging holes and burying it in the ground so that they didn’t have to work as hard at harvest time.

  Most people are inherently lazy and need some form of economic incentive to be productive

  some observations about college degrees taken from the sept. 25, 05 new york times op-ed section, under the heading,.

  "the education gap".. "college graduates earn nearly twice as much as high school graduates, and people with professional degrees earn nearly twice as much as.

  those with college degrees.... you are beginning to see vast behavioral differences between the two groups.. for example, divorce rates for college grads are plummeting, but they are not for everyone else.

  A lot of relationships break up at your age. When the children are on their own people question if it could be better on their own or with a different person. I know I did and mrs hoser probably did too, although she never said so.

  Refusing to Report time in field ministry

  what do you think would happen if i verbally refuse to report my time?

  it's been several months since i turned in my time and i think the elder got tired of asking me lol.

  frankly, i think it's stupid that jws are required to do this.

  I turn in a bullshit report every month, whether I’ve been out or not. They know I make up my time but don’t want to deal with it. It’s our elephant in the room so to speak. Even when I go out not very much gets accomplished. Field service is such a joke these days not like it was in the 70s and 80s

  JWs and daily Bible reading schedule

  jws often point to this, to show outsiders they are allowed to read the bible on their own without the publications.

  although, as we know, the org still teaches that you will never progress along the road to life without the pubs.

  and, i would imagine that what they learn/conclude from their own bible reading, must remain within the confines of current wt teaching, even on the most minute points of doctrine.

  I don’t think jws read the bible as much as they say they do.

  As soon as I starting reading the bible I lost my faith in the Jehovah’s Witness religion.

  Does the younger generation have our work ethic?

  i've had enough of speaking in generalities during my time as a jw evangelizer.

  while my own experience will offer up mere anecdotal examples at best, my contemporaries and i have found that kids today lack the earnestness and drive we older folks have had since youth: setting up a lemonade stand; doing yard work without power assist; mopping floors; running errands for a dime; cleaning parking lots, etc.

  Incite Better Handling of Complaints

  ever feel as if companies or their telephone complaint handlers couldn't care less about your problem?

  i don't know if it's just me, but in recent times i seem to have had more than my fair share of companies/tradesmen who acted with contempt.. admittedly, many of them are given a really hard time by extremely irate customers, but each customer should be treated as an individual.. i have found that i receive a more focussed & attentive response when i inform the person on the other end of the line that i am recording the call for my personal reference & security.

  from that point on, i generally receive their full attention and achieve a satisfactory outcome for my complaint.

  A lot of workers don’t give a shit anymore. I think a lot of it has to do with the corporate culture of the organization they work for. If the leaders of the corporation treat their employees with contempt the employees treat the customers in a similar fashion.

  It’s always some Russian brother in prison, some African crossing a snake infested river or someone in Malawi that had their house taken from them . Mostly embellished bullshit to further the governing body’s agenda.

  So what’s wrong with you that you can’t make it to the mid week meeting after you’ve worked 12 hours? You’re materialistic and greedy. Come to the meetings and give us your money.

  i was wondering if co's who get 'green handshakes' ever report their 'income' from these jw benefits?

  in the us even gifts beyond a certain amount must be reported.

  jw's like to claim how honest they are, do they report all their income?.
