With a whimper, not a bang
by JeffT inthe thread about old timers got me thinking about trends i see with the watchtower.
i've changed my opinion about where the organization stands.
when i joined the religion in 1973 it was dynamic, even the small congregation i attended sent out three or four pioneers.

Trained followers can’t be leaders. That’s why the organization is in decay.
Think about it. To move up the “spiritual” ladder in the Jehovah’s Witness religion a person must follow direction. Independent thinking is not allowed. Natural born leaders are never promoted in the religion. Most times they are run off or take the hint and leave.
Those that make it to the top are all too afraid to make the hard choices to turn the ship around.

The old timers believed in it and had a fire in their belly. Now people are going through the motions to stay connected socially.

1969 "fact": You will never grow old in this present system of things
by Ding inawake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

The writers of the 1969 never grow old article attained their goal to a certain extent. It kept their adherents uneducated and in fear. People are easier to control that way. Many volunteered to print and sell the magazines which ultimately gave the writing department a living. They ate and had a place to live. If everyone went to college and saw through the bullshit the religion would have fallen apart.
I see this as a wasted generation. The 1975 generation. My parents are part of this generation having spent the better part of their lives waiting. It is sad to see how the misguided can affect the lives of so many.

There are a lot of a hole elders out there. I think you had the bad luck to get one as your bible teacher. As I started reading your story I couldn’t help but think about places where people are too poor to buy a car but then you got to it.
The elder that studied with me quit college because his teacher told him it was dangerous. These guys have a powerful influence on young people.
Anyway, I’m happy you’re getting back into riding and have fun.

Do local JWs want in-person meetings back in your congregation?
by JWTom ini realize many here think that in-person meetings will return as soon as things are safe with covid.
but many acknowledge it will likely be 2022 or later when this happens.. surprisingly, many pimi jws in our congregation are not shy about saying they are fine with zoom meetings forever and do not want to go back to in-person meetings.
many speculate similar thoughts that are on this site....such as a combination of in-person and zoom meetings.

In the Jehovah’s Witness religion it’s who you know not what you know.

If I print copious amounts of money it’s called counterfeiting. If the government prints copious amounts of money it’s called quantitative easing. -

I’m playing the long game. If anything I’d be buying if the market drops significantly. Stocks, real estate, metals, hockey cards, even the old camper in your back yard are all a hedge against currency devaluation(inflation)

Titch. If the maximum income is 5 million there will be a lot of people who earn 4,999,999.00.
Simon. I don’t believe taxes should be progressive. High earners are managers, business owners and hire a lot of people. Why discourage productivity?
Maybe there should be a maximum income tax.
