I grew up on a lot of that same music. Many well written songs are timeless

Food at the Proper Time
by Alpaca inya' know....as i listen to the great music of my youth from the 60s & 70s ... i've reached the inescapable conclusion that the "food at the proper time" came from simon & garfunkel, the grateful dead, jimi hendrix, led zeppelin, pete seeger, bob dylan, hot tuna, steve winwood and hundreds of other incredible musical philosophers!!!
i can honestly say that my life has been enriched.. i am barreling toward 70 years on this planet and i still get goose bumps listening to the music & lyrics that perfectly capture life's eternal truths.
at that time in my life i had "one foot in the world" spent a lot of time listening to that classic music with "worldly" friends who were there for me when i finally walked out of the fog of dubdom in the late 1990's.

I’m not sure what this means!
by NeedsProof inyesterday i was visited by 2 witnesses, and we had a long chat about lots of things!
one of them named claire took the lead and i instantly felt some sort of connection to her, after we had spoken and they had left i started to have this overwhelming feeling to research her and what she had spoken about but i couldn’t find her anywhere on any website or social media, so i left it and thought nothing more of it all day….
however the strange thing is i had a dream that night and claire was in it, many things happened in this dream that i was told i was only allowed to speak about with claire, i can speak of the dream to others but the details only me and claire can know!

There are some things that just can’t be explained.
I was raised a staunch jw and had a spiritual experience that did not align with jw beliefs that involved a death of a family member. I only talk about it with non jws seeking an explanation.
You couldn’t find Claire on social media because Uber jws don’t use Facebook and some people just don’t use it for privacy concerns. She may never come back to your door unless you have made arrangement for a return visit.
I’ve had dreams like the one you described. They are so real and sometimes they actually mean something but it may take years for you to fully understand the meaning.

Thought on “0 hours” reporting
by FFGhost inso everyone knows the “big news” of this past weekend, no more reporting of hours, placements, return visits, etc.
beginning november 1, jws just tick a box indicating whether they “shared in any form of the ministry during the month”.. so there was a brief comment by a redditor that seems like a brief joke “throwaway comment” but after thinking about it….why not?.
the idea is, what is “any form of the ministry”?

“Growth = God’s Blessing”.
The more publishers, the more they can say they’re blessed
They will be ble$$ed. On assembly days when they count the number of publishers x $11.00 per publisher and tell us our circuit has incurred a deficit of $5,264.39 and the contribution boxes are conveniently located at the exits but we’d prefer you donate directly to jw.borg as we really need the money now and it reduces the chance of any pilfering by the local elders.

I think circuit overseers should have a job like the apostle Paul
by forzaitalia inam i being mean, thinking that travelling overseers should get a part-time job like paul did, in order to not be a burden to the congregation?
i wouldn't put my hand up when we were asked to raise it if we were happy to give £50 from congregation funds to the c.o.
so that he could take his wife out for a meal.

No more REPORTING field service!!!!!!!!!
by BoogerMan inthis is going to break the hearts of a lot of uber-jw's!
reddit has now removed the video link of samuel herd telling jw's they will no longer have to report time or placements - just tick a box which says "active.".

Don't they require individual online donations now via a personal login and electronic debit? Doesn't this constitute "monitoring and keeping track of someone's donation?Balaamsass210 hours ago
Persnickety.......BINGO..... we have a winner! lol. It is all about the $$$$$ SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!
"Don't they require individual online donations now via a personal login and electronic debit? Doesn't this constitute "monitoring and keeping track of someone's donation?"
My mom a JW since 1936..always told me: " Hun, ...Always... donate by check..cause you can write it off...and at least one MS and an Elder or Two have to notice you keep their lights on". lol.
This^^^^^^
At the assembly day they recommend on line donating with your credit card. A practice they formerly condemned false religion for. Yes, they will take your cash or check donation but electronic donations are preferred.

This answers the question if the organization was going to go more Hardline or mainstream.
by nowwhat? inlooks like we can expect a kinder, gentler jehovah and jesus during the great tribulation.
the door will not be closed to all non jws at the start of the tribulation.
but will have time to repent after false religion is destroyed.

Vidiot:
maybe. It will show how few jws actually give a shit about the ministry.
My observation the last 10 years is that most are just putting in time(wasting)
The last few times I went door to door for a 3 hour reporting period maybe 3 doors were knocked on and my Mrs and the other guys wife talked about what brand of white rum tasted the best with Coca Cola.
Tim hortons and personal errands is what field service has become. No one cares

I really don’t think they have a long term plan. They are comfortable in their position and will only change if their hand is forced.

In my congregation elders handle the mics now. Seems the under 40 crowd have all disappeared

Vidiot: These changes are legit
They are reactive and not proactive. They are arrogant and proud and can’t actually see how stupid and incompetent they really are. The blind are leading the blind. The governing body hasn’t thought that far ahead or even reflected on their past mistakes to even think about the consequences of these changes. In their deluded minds they don’t make mistakes.
This was coming but COVID made things happen a lot faster.
Think back over the past 30 years and the blunders that they committed by being so arrogant and inept.
1990ish. Because these entitled fuckers think they’re somehow above both secular and biblical(Jesus said to pay your taxes) laws they stopped charging for literature and the meals at the assemblies ( remember the food tickets for the hoagie and frozen pudding and orange juice) instead of registering for the gst and paying Caesar’s things to Caesar. They actually thought that the flat ass broke jws would donate enough to cover the cost of the FREE food and literature. They were able to dump giving away food after a short time but were stuck giving away magazines for 3 decades.
They demonized the internet while giving away FREE literature for at least 15 years. Finally someone woke up and thought “wait a minute” people can download their watchtower instead of us buying a bunch of paper and ink and shipping these magazines that nobody reads all over the country?
A lot of people liked the book study meeting because it was small and more laid back than the regular meeting so they axed it in favour of the TMS and no one attends.
This latest change of not reporting service time and you can still be saved after the great tribulation starts just dumbs down the whole thing a bit more.
The GB is like the mouse trying to stop a rolling freight train. They’re going to get run over.
The economy, people and society change and you can’t fight progress. Early adapters usually fare the best and luddites who refuse to change are left behind.

Real reasons behind this change?
by Gorb injust a good conversation at home about the hour report change.. we think the change was not impmemented because the gb are such a lovely bunch of old grandpa's having the best in mind for us individuals.. there will be only, and we say only, an organizational reason for it.
a legal reason, to protect jw.org and it's officials and wealth.. next step?
maybe selling more kh and when jw hollywood studio's in rampoo are ready a change to tv subscription.. what do you think?

You’re probably right. They just have to bring the changes slowly enough so that people keep donating. The governing body are lazy like everyone else on this planet. They want to keep their job easy enough so that the money keeps rolling in and to do that they need to trim expenses.
