  What was the strangest off-the-cuff remark you ever heard from and elder or higher appointee?

  i showed up for saturday morning field service and i was partnered with an elder who had transferred to our congregation in the dallas, texas area from michigan.

  i told him about a recent embarrassing moment where i had played a "worldly" song during the sunday meeting due to someone replacing the cassette i had placed in the cassette player late friday night that had the correct "kingdom melody.".

  out of the blue he said "about 4 years ago i was giving the sunday talk and i kept sporting a boner from time to time which was bizarre since being horny and teaching about jehovah is typically not something one associates with one another.".

  Yes it's true about this co. He also would talk a lot about cleavage and how sisters who have it should cover it. He was a perv. He also told me once not to use hotmail because popups with links to porn would show up on it.

  When we were selling watchtowers for 50 cents a buddy of mine made the presentation " 50 cents to cover the cost of printing". Turns out the householder was in the printing business and looked the magazine over and said it would cost about 3 cents to make this and handed it back to my buddy.

  My buddy and I were out in service with the circuit overseer about 2005 or so.

  Out of the blue he asked us if we had read about the new thought that if you watched porn while you masturbated it was now considered unclean ness with greediness and could result in a judicial hearing.

  so they asked all the kingdom halls for all the money in their savings account and then make them give a monthly payment for the rest of their life.

  the reason for this was because the in-gathering is so great, that they need to build, build, build!.

  A simple explanation for the financial changes

  as i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.

  i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.

  i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.

  if you don't want to go through the whole thing; basically it is about a letter that was sent by mexico's branch requiring the body of elders to modify the service meeting for this week (september 21) and the following (september 28) in order to watch (again) stephen lett's solicitation for money (may's broadcasting).. so, why a new thread?

  i am truly chocked and baffled by the number of volunteers they got for this project; especially in the states.

  looking at one of their articles on the matter, they stated that a large portion of the printing work was delegated to other locations than ny, thus, they did not need as much space as they did in ny.

  also, it was stated that operation cost in nyc were expensive.

  The Governing Body and "Josephs generation"

  hi, i m new here and not so good in english, but ive give it a try and hope you understand.. .

  the whole idea of the overlapped generation is not only illogical, there are also serious errors in reasoning and how to interpret the scripture.. .

  the only "scriptural argument" that the governing body has managed to bring in this matter is exodus 1: 6 where they say that a "generation" can be stretched to cover a longer period than usually meant by a "generation".

  Jesus said this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur. He was right. About 35 years later There was a great tribulation and Jerusalem was destroyed. End of story. No further fulfillment of this prophecy needed.
