Rivalry among the sisters

when i was first introduced to the "truth", i was so distracted by the love and affection that the members were showing me that i was ready to convert into the religion without thinking twice.

i was conviced that jws were god's people (i still think some of them are).

i made it my goal to get baptized as i wanted to be part of the "only" religion that produce such good people.

There most certainly is a pecking order in the congregation. If you care about such things life will be hard for you.

Why invest in relationships that offer no return or negative returns? When I used to try to please people in the congregation I got shat on. Hang around with assholes and eventually you'll get shit on.

mrs hoser and I don't give a rats ass anymore about the social stratification that goes on in the hall and the world in general. It is a lonely path to walk down but at least we miss out on most of the drama that goes on.

We have few friends but the ones we have don't laugh at or criticize us. If they did they wouldn't be our friends.

for in-stance, two children, five and seven years old, sent their pocket money to help build our new bethel instead of going to the circus, writing, "this is much better than that!

Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book

congregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.

i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.

the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

The reasoning book has been obsolete for the last 20 years!

It explains the generation teaching as the generation that saw 1914 will not pass away.

Seeking advise on going to college/university

here is the current situation of an acquaintance of mine.. age early 40s.

currently lost her good paying job.. managed to find another reasonably quickly.

although be it with not good money but with the possibility of been able to take an adult apprenticeship which would increase her pay over time.. she is also looking into going to university in the new year.. here is the question i have bearing in mind the above scenario.

Congregation average

a while back at our co visit, he commended the cong.

because our average hours had gone up.. we went from around 7.3 to about 7.5. i recall the days when anything less than 10 was considered awful.. of course now, they don't even print the hours in the km or anywhere.. i was wondering how these numbers compared to other congregations?.

I remember too that it used to be the magic number of ten hours per month. Just recently we were commended as a congregation for getting 7 hours a month average

How did you feel when you found out "the truth about the truth"?

so when you first found out specific facts about the organisation, how did you feel??.

the un membership.

the way 1914 was calculated from pyramid measurements.

I was born in and blinded for decades. It took the shock of seeing how a judicial committee works in the case of one of my children to fully wake up.

I had doubts for almost 20 years but I kept pushing them back in my head for some reason.

How I liken myself now is to a recovering drug addict that now has to start over at 40 years old with close to zero social skills and no network of people to lean on.

Can an inactive family member hold back a MS appointment?

a friend asked me if a man can be appointed a ms if he has an inactive (inactive for 15-20 years) baptized adult child living in his home.

the child lives by the rules and doesn't do anything wrong (jw-wise), as i am told.

i know the child (adult) and is a good kid as far as i know.

I was denied being an ms for a couple of years because my wife's hours were "too low". Then we had a change of circuit overseer and I was appointed even though my situation never changed.

I don't think it really matters what you do. If they like you things can slide. If they don't like you you are never good enough.

"High" education

Mrs hoser went to college last year. She did very well and finished too of the class. Her parents were not impressed though. Apparently Jws are not supposed to better themselves financially. It didn't help that she lived in a dorm on campus.

as a good jw i never smoked a joint or nibbled on some brownies.

I heard a person has to be careful how to use it I don't think I'll smoke it. Stinks too much.
