I don't know where we go when we die, but it can't be that bad of a place because nobody has ever come back to complain about it. -

Are you an agronomist or a farmer? If so, I need your help. Related to Miracle Wheat
by ILoveTTATT2 ini am doing some investigation on the miracle wheat episode, and i have a question that i don't know the answer to, and i can't find the answer online.. it seems that, from what i have learnt online, that wheat is a self-pollinating, "perfect flower".
this means that once there is a strain that has a quality that's desirable, all you have to do is plant it, and that feature will remain "forever".
essentially the new plants are all clones.given that information, this statement by penton does not make sense:.

I lied to the elders
by atacrossroads ini stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.
my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.
from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

Atacrossroads: sounds like something my mom would do or say. They are blinded by the cult and use it as an excuse to be abusive. Or they are just plain abusive. I'm not sure which it is. -

The Forgotten Ones
by ToesUp injust curious...is anyone hearing the older/infirm ones speaking out to others on how they are being treated in the congregation?
without giving anything away, i have spoken to so many older ones (some are sickly or can't drive in the evening or can't drive at all) who can't make it to all the meetings, assemblies, etc., that are complaining on how they are being treated by the more righteous ones in the hall.
the ones i have spoken to make the comment that it seems to be the younger elders that have less empathy and concern for these ones.

If the publishers could report time for assisting older ones in the congregation this wouldn't be a problem.

Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book
by Richard_I incongregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.
i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.
the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

It has been considered here before that maybe the org wants to downsize. Cut out unprofitable congregations and sell off their Kingdom Halls. -

Remember When Something Bad Would Happen And You Felt Its Really What They Deserved?
by minimus ini was thinking about christmas and how celebrants may lose their home and all their possessions because a christmas candle burned down the house.. witnesses smugly would say, "well, they shouldn't have been celebrating the holidays!
".....yet if a jw got into a fatal car accident while going to a convention, it was clearly satan's doing..

A local JW lost his life in a snowmobile accident on a Saturday morning a few years ago. Some in the hall said serves him right for missing field service. -

1914, leap years, and sticky math situation
by A.proclaimer in360 days x 2520 years = 907,200 days.
365.25 days x 2520 years = 920,430 days.
920,430 days - 907,200 days = 13,230 days in difference .

The year 1914 was first calculated by measuring the inches inside of a pyramid in Egypt. It was from an inner chamber to somewhere else. The original calculation showed the year 1874 as being the end. When this failed they had to change the length of an inch to "pyramid inches" to come to 1914.
After chuckie russel died the corporation had to distance itself from the quackery of pyramidology. They adopted the 2520 days equals a year quackery to support their 1914 doctrine.
as for calculating leap years and prophetic years verses calander years mumbo jumbo it really doesn't matter because Jerusalem was destroyed in 587 not 607 bce.
To compound the problem is the fact that the generation of 1914 was not supposed to pass away is that they are all pretty much dead now. So now they have to make up a bullshit definition of generation to try to keep 1914 relevant to the religion.
as far as I am concerned the leaders of this religion have been bullshitting the members for the last 150 years and will do so for another 150 years as long as the gullible buy into it. It really doesn't matter to me anymore as long as I can keep my family intact and save enough money for my old age.
