  Reading between the lines

  The borganization is reactive, not proactive.

  They allowed males under the legal age of majority to be appointed as ministerial servants. Legal must have pointed out that’s not a good thing but they can’t disappoint the young ans by deleting them as they might never get them to serve again.

  Elders can’t be alone with a ministerial servant under the age of 18.

  Elders have to consult the parents first if they want the young an to do assignments .

  Minor ministerial servants can only do things like clean the toilets and handle microphones.

  This blunder shows the org is flying by the seat of their pants and can’t think past their noses.

  Pass on cars to attend Assemblies?

  i have just read a post about february 2025 (i suppose) announcements in italy saying that from now on at assemblies they need a pass, given by elders, to put on cars.. is that possible/true?.

  The issue I would have is being stuck driving someone you might not like to the convention because you need a full vehicle.

  the proposed change will revoke charitable status of canadian churches who have an anti-abortion position, and will not give tax exemptions to organizations whose sole claim is to promote religion, which is the basic claim for all jw related entities in canada.

  I haven’t heard a peep from any jw about this.

  Usually it’s talked about as potential persecution among the jws even though it wouldn’t stop them from worship, it would just make it more expensive for them to do it.

  This bill still might have a chance to make it as the liberal government is still in power even as Justine Castro Trudeau has stepped down.

  We will get a new liberal prime minister, either mark carney or Chrystia freeland. There are rumours that Jagmeet Singh might do another back room deal with the liberals to extend the government to October of this year.

  As far as I’m concerned the bill should pass. Entities that do not provide social services to Canadians don’t deserve a tax break. Advancement of religion should not be by itself a charitable cause in regards to tax breaks.

  Watchtower Canada purchased 30 condos in the GTA last year to house volunteers while they renovate their residences at the branch. They will be selling those condos when the job is done. They should pay the property and capital gains on this like any other real estate investor.

  Now they are gradually being forced to comply. I wonder how many elder bodies will initially resist this change until the Governing Body takes the appointment process power completely away from them and place it solely on the circuit overseer?

  I don’t think this will happen. They want the elders to appoint locally as it doesn’t connect criminal behaviour of some appointees back to the organization. The liability falls on the local elders

  There is an entire lost generation of Jehovah’s Witness males that were shut out of the program.

  I’m one of them. I was actually appointed as ministerial servant in one congregation but they put so much work load on me and I didn’t know how to say NO that I quickly burnt out.

  We moved to a new congregation and I was passed over because the circuit overseer felt my wife wasn’t spiritual enough. I guess being a new mom wasn’t a good enough excuse.

  The problem with my wife is she is way too honest. She wouldn’t lie on her field service report and was always a low hour publisher.

  They did appoint me again in a third congregation. My wife’s field service time was still very low but I guess rules change when they are desperate. I didn’t last very long in that appointment as the elders kept moving the goalposts in what they expected of me.

  Now neither my wife nor me care and I was tired of jumping though hoops for manipulative elder bodies just to have another hoop put in front of me.

  reading mary's thread regarding the july 15th wt, i began to really consider what the wbts' problem is with "independent thinking".. what exactly is "independent thinking" and what about its opposite, "dependent thinking"?

  a few on here (and of course many on the ex-jw reddit forum) have mentioned that wt hq just recently (like in the past couple months) put out a video warning against the praising of jw actors, taking photos with them, etc.

  to not do it anymore.
