Have you ever been to Canada ?
If I need to see a doctor, I walk into a clinic or hospital and see one. Usually within an hour.
They write up a prescription and I go to a pharmacy of my choice and get my prescription filled. I pay for the meds and claim it back on my private insurance
Its that easy
I’m not sure if Americans can do this but Canadians can pay out of pocket for some procedures if they go to a different province.
If I don’t want to wait 3 months for a “free” MRI scan I can drive 2 hours to another province and pay $1200 and get it done this week.
The same applies to joint replacement surgeries. I can pay the $25000 and get it done quickly in another province or I can wait 6 months for a free one.

I would say to the pharmaceutical companies:
Grow a pair and charge full pin to the rest of the world.
They are privately owned businesses. They are free to charge as they please, whatever the market will bear. I don’t think they are obligated to sell in the Canadian or European markets.
And Sounds like American consumers need to wake up and refuse to pay those high prices for their meds.

I also don’t see how the usa pays my healthcare
I pay taxes which builds hospitals and pays doctors and nurses salaries.
Dental care is a mix of private and social care.
I pay for dental insurance that covers 80% of my costs the rest I pay out of pocket. I earn too much money to get the taxpayer funded dental but that is ok.
I think most pharmaceuticals are available in places other than the USA so if the tariffs get too crazy our health care boards will purchase them elsewhere.

My company barely purchases anything from the USA
I have a few older American made machines but my main supplier has purchased the American side of the business and is moving production from the USA to Canada .
Most of my competitors have switched from American to European manufactured equipment. It is higher quality and a lower price point.
My artificial intelligence machine is assembled in China with parts from Italy and the UK. My supplier can build these machines in Canada if he needs to.
Most of my consumable parts are made in Japan, Mexico or China. The United States has priced themselves out of the marketplace.
Unless America can somehow devalue their currency they cannot compete as an exporting nation.

A small factory.
I Don’t own the one I am currently managing which is good as I don’t have any of my personal assets tied to the business but I previously wholly owned one facility and owned another facility with partners that we sold to an international company about 10 years ago.
I sold the facility I owned about 8 years ago.
What many people don’t understand is that the “good” jobs aren’t coming back. We don’t need your services anymore. Manual labour will soon be a thing of the past. Even a lot of white collar office jobs will be replaced by ai.
I recently replaced one of my machines with one that has artificial intelligence to adjust it to different product flows. It cost me one years salary for one employee to purchase and has already paid for itself in time savings and better quality output.
Our line now goes 40% faster per hour and we don’t have to stop between production runs for 1/2 to 1 hour to manually adjust the equipment. I’ve been able to cut out the after hours overtime which is the time of day where most of the employee shenanigans take place.
This ai machine is magic. I don’t know how it works but it teaches itself to keep doing a better and better job.

It’s not that simple as to force people back to work
The 40% of working age people who are not working can stay right where they are. It’s cheaper to get ai and automation to do the work.
Ive been a manager and business owner for decades.
I’m sick and tired of dealing with other peoples bullshit. The cops showing up at work, them fighting with their ex girlfriend, fighting with other employees bringing guns and threatening employees, stealing tools from the shop.
What happens when you try to employ the chronically unemployable is that all of your good employees leave and your company goes broke.
You couldn’t pay me to have those people on my property. Pay them to stay at home or they will steal it from your house
