I think many long time Jehovahs witnesses would find birthday celebrations repulsive.

After being ostracized for decades by not celebrating, all of the social and financial benefits they lost out on by being different than the crowd they may become bitter towards the organization.

from a rational point of view: "the world" is "on fire" and a lot of people needs help.

refugees all over the world, and people in economic trouble, needing help, even in the "western world".. so, "the society", jw.org accept toosting from now on.. what's wrong with their collective leadership and their followers, in what bubble do they act and live?.

it makes me, after the laughing, fun and "ahead of the heavenly wagon" of yesterday, some kind of sad today.. gorby .

i have lots of friends who had a new born this year, and they are excited as hell that they have an opportunity to give their children something they themselves didn’t get because their parents were hard-core jehovah's witnesses who refuse to support them in getting a better education to live a better life.. not only will they not raise their children as jehovah's witness, but they now have the opportunity to give their children a better life.

all my friends are still young, under 24, so they still have time, .

the "one big beautiful bill" includes a provision for "trump accounts," which will provide a one-time government contribution of $1,000 for every child born between january 1, 2025, and december 31, 2028. parents can also contribute up to $5,000 per year to these accounts.

If I remember correctly Liam is the trust fund baby that gets a monthly allowance from his uncle so I wouldn’t pay much attention to what he says.

$1000 isn’t much money anymore and tax sheltered investment accounts are nothing new. On top of that the $1000 is their own money, taxpayer money. It’s not like it’s a personal gift from Donald trump but he will most certainly take the credit for it.

However, it is good to encourage saving and investing. Too many people can’t manage finances and that is the reason Canada and the USA are in the bad financial shape they are in.

I would put Liam on par with our former prime minister Justin Trudeau so I wouldn’t waste your time arguing with him.

Fancy dress up parties were banned by Elders after our 2nd one

so i grew up in a small town with lots of witnesses so being bored we had two fancy dress up parties now some brothers came with swords and fake guns as pirates or cowboys one brother who was a pioneer came dressed as a woman!

the elders smashed us in a talk they gave and these fun parties were cancelled..
