Well DOC, I figured that posting this in the 'Jokes & Humor' section may have been a clue... but I guess some folks don't understand that bit.
Oh well. I thought it was funny as hell when I read it on a friends posting on Facebook.

i would like to share an experience with you about drinking and driving.
as you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.. .
well, over the weekend my friend & i attended a christmas party & knowing full well we may have been over the limit, i decided to do something i've never done before - take a bus home!.

Well, over the weekend my friend & I attended a Christmas party & knowing full well we may have been over the limit, I decided to do something I've never done before - take a bus home!
Arrived back home safely and without incident which was a real surprise, since I had never even driven a bus before and am not sure where I got this one.
Merry Christmas
what are the odds??
?...how many jw lawyers can there even be?
?....i mean most cant ever even go to frikkin college!!!
Oompa,
I feel for ya.
First - stop posting details of your personal life on this forum - which she or her lawyer (JW or not) may be able to read.
Second - get yourself a divorce lawyer, if you have not already done so.
Third - as to her getting a JW lawyer... well... if that is true, you may be able to come out of this divorce better than if the lawyer wasn't a JW. Just sayin...
Hang in there oompa.

Can you remember his name or the name of the lady he married?
Terry,
I cannot post names in public, so I sent you a PM.
Thanks again for sharing.

Terry,
I read your posted writing above. Great writing. I would say that if you could, you should try to piece as much of what you originally did back together, or to try to start over, and write this down.
While you may feel that it is not important for others to read, I think that it is.
You are not trying to 'convince' anyone of anything. Keep that in mind. Your book is not meant to be read by just JWs or ex-JWs, but by ALL who care to read it. I think that there may be more that would be interested than you think.
I'm sorry that you had to go to prison. I remember those days. I remember the young men (older than me) who were trying their best to not go to prison. One fella became a 'pioneer', and also worked. He was tired all the time. Whenever my mom visited his dad who was a chiropractor locally, I would go with her just on the off-chance I would get the opportunity to see him or talk to him. (I looked up to him.) He was no more interested in me than the man in the moon. If he was home, he was sleeping. If he wasn't home, he was working or out door-knocking.
He managed to get the deferrment, and also managed to get the 'Bethel' invite, where he went for about 4 years (or more).
The other fella that I knew, was a nice guy. I actually hung around with him after he returned from prison. He worked full-time, at - ironically enough - the police station where he worked on the police cars as a mechanic. He went to Segoville, too. Late 60's, early 70's. It was kinda funny, he met his future wife there, as there were some local JW gals that would make it a point to go to the prison and check out the 'new recruits', I suppose. She was a nice gal, and they got married after he was released.
I almost got into the mess, but my card came in as a 1H(? - been too long ago - I'm not sure), or whatever the 'student' classification was, as I was still in school at the time when I registered. They did away with the Selective Service soon after I registered, as another friend of mine at the time laughed as he didn't have to register, and his birthday was in December - if I recall correctly.
I know my mom was paranoid that one of her boys was going to have to go to prison. I think she was trying to figure out how to get around that, but I wasn't anyone special... I didn't pioneer or anything, so I was probably 'prime-meat' for the draft. I also don't think the local elders would have helped us out any, as she had pissed in their beer on a previous encounter with them.
In any case, you have a good story here, and you should spend some time to finish it (or fill in the holes with what you have), if you can. If you don't want to turn it into a full-sized novel, make it into a short-story.
It's really good, Terry.

Jim TX
i saw a few mindlessly working a neighborhood as i was driving the other day.
they looked so unhappy, just walking in baby steps, looking like zombies..
My first reaction? Well, I guess I don't 'fear' them anymore, and I don't 'hate' them either, so I really don't know.
A few months ago, I spotted my ex-brother-in-law at a fast-food eatery, and I approached him and said, 'Hi'. He wasn't too comfortable talking to me... not sure if it's because I divorced his sister, or what. To my knowledge, I am just a 'walk a way', and never DA'ed or was DF'ed (to my knowledge). (If it was because of the divorce, he ain't got much room to talk, he's on his second wife.)
I see the JWs many times on the weekends all dressed up - even the little boys and girls (a dead give-away). I just observe them, and try to leave them alone.
My wife laughs at me, when we are driving, and happen to pass a KH, I will hiss vehemently like a cat at the building. The first time I did it, she was like, "What?". She then figured out what I was doing, and now just laughs.
The few times that I've had contact with JWs who are 'witnessing', I usually turn them off relatively quickly and they leave (or flee).

i took the day off from work today, as i am bumping my limit of paid vacation hours (actually, i exceeded it, and they told me i need to use it or lose it).. .
anyway, that's not the point of this post.
i am enjoying a bit of 'stay at home' time here.
I took the day off from work today, as I am bumping my limit of paid vacation hours (actually, I exceeded it, and they told me I need to use it or lose it).
Anyway, that's not the point of this post. I am enjoying a bit of 'stay at home' time here. I am in my office at the computer, and I see this huge 4-door... Buick? slowly pull up outside, across the street, and stop. I normally do not pay too much attention to such things, because the lady across the street runs a day-care from her home, and the other neighbor across the street has friends to stop by, etc. - but I decided to take a look out the window, and make sure all was okay - especially since the dogs that are tied outside were going nuts barking!
I saw this elderly woman, stooped over from age (although when I saw her up close, she probably wasn't too much older than me - mid-50's perhaps), walking up to my neighbors door, with a black bible opened, and some sort of magazines in her hand.
Now, being an ex-JW, we all know who it was, right? Yuppers, a JW going to the neighbor's door. Or trying to Their dog was on a leash, but barking his little head off at this woman.
I quickly exited my mobile home, and was standing my driveway watching her, and her husband who was driving. (I'm ready to get their license number, too - just in case.)
She is halfway up the neighbor's sidewalk, but is stopped by the neighbor's barking chihuahua (who is friendly, and would lick you to death, but she doesn't know this). She sees me, and lamely says that she is trying to visit the neighbor, Sally (not her real name - I have changed so as to not violate board policy).
I say, "Oh, really?" with raised eyebrow, and cold tone to my voice. (Hell, I know who the woman is, and what she is there for.)
She walks over, stooped, and says, "Yes. Her daughter had run away, and ran through our parking lot at our kingdom hall, and I was stopping by to make sure things are alright."
Well, I know of the incident that she is talking about, and it happened several months ago... like 5 or 6 months. So, I say something like, "I see." Still looking warily at her (and making her nervous - I am a master at making folks uncomfortable.)
She continues, "Yes, I suppose things are alright now, (pant - puff) I was also going to leave these magazines with her." She opens the folded magazines to reveal... TADA!!! The Awake and Watchtower.
She then continues, "But the dog won't let me get to the door to see if Sally is home.", kinda with a half-laugh.
"Uh-huh." I reply, still glaring at her.
"Would you like them?" She offers them to me.
"No." I reply. "I know what they are. You do realize that there is a 'No solicitors' sign up front at the entrance, don't you?"
"Oh - we're not soliciting. I'm here to give Sally some information." (or somesuch - I don't remember, but it was the usual denial drival) she replies, already headed back to her car. (I think she may have smelled the 'demunz' on me...)
"Well, yes you are soliciting." I answer (yeah - it's a lame response - give me a break.)
"If I were soliciting, how would I know Sally's name?" she retorts over her shoulder - still walking back to her car, as fast as her legs could carry her stooped-over frame.
"If you know Sally lives there, how come the dog is barking at you?" I reply, as I start back up my sidewalk. (Yes, another lame response.)
They slowly pulled away, turned around at the corner cul-de-sac, and left the park.
I will tell my wife, when she gets back, and we will have to have a little 'enlightening' talk with Sally when she is at home in the evenings.
For those that may not be aware, there is a Kingdom Hall not too far from where I live. Yes, Sally's daughter, who is all of 14, ran away from home, but it's been like 5 or 6 months ago. She is now being home-schooled, and is doing better. Sally has not been associated with the JW's - other than her daughter running through their parking lot... and probably on a meeting night, where she evidently came into contact with some goody-two-shoes Jws.
When my wife and I talk to Sally, we will be sure to let her know of their ulterior motives, and the propaganda that they are spreading (like manure).
I know this wasn't much of a story to relate - I just felt that I had to document it. It kinda felt good being a jerk to the JWs, and making some poor lady squirm. Oh, and by the way... the woman wasn't too kind in her approach. In fact, she was kinda rude. Even if I wasn't aware of who they were, if she was trying to get someone interested... she needs to work on her 'personable' skills.

while in line at the tsa pat down line i overheard 2 women talking about how they couldn't (or shouldn't) eat pepperoni pizza from a certain national chain because they heard from a cousin of a friend in a neighboring congregation (i never got the whole chain of source info) that the meat ingredients listed "animal by-products" and how everyone knows that means blood.. .
well i couldn't help myself, so i leaned over the velvet rope separating us and i excused myself for eavesdropping and asked "are you 2 young ladies jehovah's witnesses?".
to which they blushed, giggled a little and replied "yes".
OH MY GOSH!!!
You're so bad!
hahahahahahaha!!
i really want my neighbors to see the latest issue of the watchtower.
that is how bad that 2/15/2012 article about how to lure your worldly spouse into the cult, even if you have to take 17 years of beatings is.
i think the people who get hooked in based on the less offensive public literature should see the offensive crap before they are indoctrinated.
If it didn't cost so durn much, I'd recommend taking one paragraph in the article, and making a quote of it into a billboard-sized ad to place in a prominent position along the freeway for everyone to see.
Of course... there may be 'legal issues' with doing this, but it'd be funny - in a sick sort of way.
Regards,
Jim TX
P.S. I don't have access to any new JW material, and if I did, I wouldn't even pick it up to read it - so I don't know what the new article is all about.
i just came across this on another thread with pictures/photos ,is this for real ?
i couldnt beleive my eyes or ears?.
the control that this organization has over it`s members... is ..is ... well it`s a cult !!
I know that this is old, but I visited Bethel waaaay back when... last century. It was a tour organized locally, and a group flew to New York and stayed in a local hotel that was over Grand Central Station (if I remember correctly).
This was back in 1974 or 1975.
I have photos of the group that toured Bethel - standing outside the main(?) entrance. (No, I do not remember what building we went in to. It was large, and we were guided through rather rapidly - if I recall correctly.)
Anyway - on to my point. The young ladies that were in our group were all wearing nice slacks. If I recall correctly, very few were actually wearing a dress - other than the tour guide and my older sister.
I'll have to dig out the photo album and see if I am correct.
Of course... our group may have been the reason that they released that set of guidelines (he sez... voice drifting off)
