urggh. Darn IE. Okay. reposting in FF

Never could figure out where the doctors and lawyers came from. payouts, maybe? Don't know why they wouild join JWs otherwise, and certainly none of us raised in the "truth that doesn't allow young people to attend university" would get there.

Sorry for all you are going through, Oompa. Don't give up. Your kids need you.

Tell the judge that the lawyer has a conflict of interest since one of the contentions in your divorce is regardling his religion and you have documented proof that Jehovah's Witnesses will collude and lie about their religion even in courts of law (there's video of theocratic warfare).

I am so sorry you are upset. This is never easy to go through. Can I ask though, what does it matter if the atty is a Jdub? Things to be divided: assets. A judge will do that. The alimony is a calculation. Most of the emotion is taken out of it. Arm yourself with a sharp attorney, preferably a woman, IMO. Or, refuse to negotiate and go to mediation or arbitration. Religion should not enter into things too much since you are already DF.

If you want to talk, I am here, and I am sure many other shoulders to cry on. I just went through this garbage and continue to.

Why worry? It would cost you less since you'll probably be ordered to pay her legal fees.

Well the WTS. isn't involved in this, but the lawyer thats representing her has knowledge of her being a sister which might lessen the costs.

If your divorce is proceeded upon irreconcilable differences, than most divorce courts will be pressed to split the assets equally.

If the divorce is base on things such as adultery or spousal abuse, that usually levies in favor to the abused or to the one that didn't commit the adultery.

Shouldn't really make any difference in Court, get yourself prepared though.

If you can find a way of exposing the fact that it was the religion that caused the marital break down and you go before a judge who

empathizes with you, you might just create some ground for yourself.

All I can point to is the fact that the attorney is a JW is not going to matter to the judge. Attorneys are considered "Officers of the Court" and professional behavior is expected of them. Bringing up the fact that he's a JW is going to be objected to as irrelavent. If you haven't got an attorney yet, now would be the time to do so. I was in this situation not so long ago. It had nothing to do with Witnesses, but coming from someone who has been around that merry-go-round already once, it's not going to be pretty.
