if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things?
.all evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years?
as a young person you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.
Well, I think that it is very clear from that article, that...

i need volunteers for this experiment, but i'll explain what it's about first....you'll find it's gonna be easier for some than others.
this is about the power of sound and the power of written and/or spoken words and their affect on our environment.
within the last 30 years an instrument called an eidophone was discovered.
Fran,
Interesting topic - and experiment.
I think this goes along with the concept that you can say things in a sweet voice to a cat (or dog), and they will think you are being the nicest person in the world... even though you are cussin them out. Since they don't really understand some of the words - they have to go on the 'tone' of your voice.
So, you could be saying (said in a sing-song voice) "I'm gonna rip your little head off..." the cat will purr and think "How nice!"
(And no, I'm not condoning harming animals... it's just something I learned years ago - and do - when I am playing with my animals... especially when they refuse to come to me... and no, I don't literally 'rip' their heads off. I pet them. *grin*)
There's a gal where I work who is able to pull off the 'sing song voice' thing... I laugh at her, and say... "There's that 'go to he**', voice, again!" She laughs too. But, there is more truth there than many folks realize. She will use that voice in conversations with the boss lady, and she thinks the gal is being just the sweetest thing!
In general... even if the 'experiment' doesn't seem to be 100% successful, I'm sure that folks will realize an improvement in their general well-being and life.
But - you may want to also try to eliminate 'negative' influences like the news media... which only broadcasts 'negative' stories... or would this be going to far... and missing the goal or point of the experiment?

i remember reading somewhere online that the society have banned jw's from reading ray franz book; crisis of conscience.
i wondered what the details of this were, have they actually named the book in any of their publications?
or spoken publicly against it?
I may be way off on this... but I seem to remember some sort of hubub in the 70's (?) and some sort of announcement, followed by the usual *tsk tsk* and *oh my* of the audience.
Nothing was ever really spoken about WHAT he did - just that he had been DFed - or replaced - or whatever.
It made me wonder 'what the heck?' - but the 'penalty' for questioning ... well... anyway.
I do not ever remember anything in print - other than the 'letter' if it was even in one... and the announcement from the platform.

how did you go from celebrating no holidays, to celebrating them?
what changes did you make in your household to accomodate this change?
I am easing into re-celebrating holidays. When I was a kid - we celebrated them... that was before my mom started studying with the JWs.
I think my last was when I was about 5 or 6.
My first - after 40 years - was a couple of years ago. I was invited over to a friends' house for a Thanksgiving meal. (Of course... I got lost - couldn't find their house - and spent the day at home...)
They then invited me over for Halloween... Christmas... New Years... you get the idea.
I think someone else already mentioned it - but it helps to have some friends who regularly celebrate - to help you re-integtrate. Most people are understanding, and willing to help.
As for any 'religious' significance... I feel that Christmas is for friends and family to get together. I don't put any Jesus Christ - manger - stuff to it.
Heck! Have fun! That's the main goal - or should be!
There were too many... "Don't do this..." rules as a JW!!!
But - if you feel that you _can't_ celebrate any holidays - then that is your choice - and that is okay, too.

i remember when i first googled "jehovah's witnesses".
i was sick to my stomach because i feared that i was disobeying jehovah.
although i was scared that i would find something "apostate" or "demonic", i still continued to click on different links.
I do not remember the _exact_ date... but it was around the end of 2001. I just typed 'Jehovah Witness' into Google... and got quite a number of hits.
(I may have done it as a result of someone else in a different country telling me that there were lots sites out there on JWs.)
Anyway - regardless... the first site that I visited was not this one - but one run by a fella named Timothy. He has moved and changed his site's look a few times since then.
I started reading about the others, and their experiences that they had, and I thought... "Wow! I thought I was the only one who felt that way!"
It was good to know that I was not alone. Others had similar experiences. I began to type my thoughts - and share with others, and go into the chat room that existed - and 'met' others like myself.
It has been a long time ago.A lot has happened since that time.

eldubs in florida (maybe elsewhere too) have been told that the kingdom halls should not be used for relief efforts or for shelters.
liability and insurance issues were stated as the reason.. will try and get a copy of this letter.. of course the kingdom halls are supposed to be the center of true worship and a place of comfort but i guess only in fair weather.
what a crock.
Well Poztate - I know you must be joking... because most of this thread has been about JWs taking refuge in the KHs - not non-JWs.
That means that the JWs are not willing to look after their own - like they used to brag about.
Oh... and forget the local KHs - what about them there large Assembly Halls that they are now building? Surely they could spread the word to all of the JW refugees and tell them to head for a designated AssHall near them.
Let's face it. The 'modern' WTBTS is not really concerned about the welfare of its' members. Too bad - when they also will hit them up for funds at the next meeting - or assy - or whatever - to push their 'preaching work', or pay for the electric at those fancy asshalls.
If they were smart - they would take care of their 'worker bees'. Happy worker bees make more book sales.
