I did not intentionally block it out. It just "Happened."
I do have some memories, mostly brief moments or places; nothing really substantial. (I was a JW until age 18.)
I am now 42. Hmm... Maybe I still have some issues...!?
after i had left the jws, i worked on blocking out my past with them rather than dealing with the issues that were still lingering.
this continued for 6 years until i stumbled onto freeminds.org.
just wondering how many of you blocked out your jw past, and how long you did it for?

many survivors have difficulty understanding the nature of memory, why we forget and what causes us to remember.
we often doubt what we remember or others doubt what we say.
we think we must be crazy to even have certain thoughtss.
Although I do not believe I was at all abused as a child, my life as a child JW is a near black hole in the space between my ears. I remember so little, it's as if I wasn't born until I graduated from High School (I left the JWs and my family at that time). Hmmm...
what are your thoughts on home schooling?
we had a few in one congregation i was in that practiced home schooling for their kids.
i kina think home schooling is isolationists and for loons.
Let's not forget, most home schooled children are not JWs. Jws, unfortunately, have their own agenda w/ home schooling. Others have a variety of reasons; most of which, I dare say, revolve around their love for their children.
my answer: jesus christ.....yours??

i'm in the middle of decorating my new house, and was a bit stuck as to what to use to mask off the furniture/carpets etc until i spotted an oldv pile of watchtowers that i'd been meaning to throw out.
i now have paint spattered watchtowers all over my living room.. anybody else got any good things to use old liturature for?
The mags would line my parakeets' cage perfectly.
i once went to a baby shower for a sister and planned on having a good time.
there were only sisters there and some brought their children.
the shower was held at a community center clubhouse.
No....But can I now, please?
look, i get confused!.
the problem is that witnesses these days are often so uninvolved and lacking in real friendship that i don't know if they're.
shunning me or not!
Hey, Gopher. It's Jimmer. Who's that you're talkin' 'bout?
i haven't been on this board for a while.
i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.
i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.
I've been out for 24 years. It still gnaws at me a couple times a year when I think about my folks (they're still in).
from what i can tell having searched the watchtower site and discs there seems to be no reference to this scripture as it goes against the teachings of the watchtower.
when the two sisters came to my door and i brought up the topic they were stumbled and on another jw web site the question was asked if there was anywhere in the bible where it says that other than gods chosen people could they be saved the jw's did not accept this scripture as well.. does is not seem odd that as one of the scriptures avoided by the watchtower, it is so avoided that it has never sunk into there brains to have any meaning!.
beans.
"...He gave His only begotten son..."
Interesting... If He gave his son (not sold), why do the dubs work so hard to get approved?
i have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.
i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.
it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.
Welcome, always!
Just be you and all will work out.. Enjoy the freedom to think for yourself.
