I alwys liked Joss Stone's , "Got a right to be wrong", especially the part where she says, "I've got a mind of my own, I'm flesh and blood to the bone..."

BEING SHUNNED
by JOHNROSS93 inafter almost 40 years of being shunned by close family members, it never gets easier.
my own mother is under the spell of the "organization" and won't even write to me.
for a long time i sent her things - cards, news articles of interest, jokes, etc - i finally gave up.

That's one of many reasons that I relocated to another state when I "woke-up" The only blood relative I have is my sister and if she knew that I was inactive, and bascially just do NOT beieve the WT society anymore she would in all probability shun me. I know I'm gonna have to 'bite the bullet' eventualty, but for right now...well...sometmes ignorance (on her part) is bliss (for me)

Generosity in the world
by DS211 inwell tonight my family and i went out to dinner.
we ate, had a good time...then the time came for the check.. the waitress announced some old couple would pay our tab.
total strangers picked up our bill.

I totally agree. I have seen and personally experienced MORE kindness, sympathy and generosity from the so-called "worldly" people than the "Oh-so-righteous-J-dubs!"
Food for thought...
I'm just saying...

Christmas Field Service
by NeverKnew inon another thread, i read that a few adherents may be traveling (cough-cough) to other cities and wouldn't be able to make field service on christmas day.. what is the likelihood that going out on christmas will be encouraged at the weekend services at the khs?
...or do most halls stay neutral on this?
given what i've read on this forum, i have the impression that disrespecting a day of other's celebration wouldn't be discouraged which annoys the heck out of me..

I remember going out one Christmas day back in 2004, it was the last time I went. I was already feeling uncomfortable and when a lady asked me a question, it was like the blinders fell off my eyes. The lady said, "Honey, why are you out here practicing YOUR religion by disturbing ME while I practice MY religion?"
I just stood there feeling stupid, silly and idiotic. The elder I was working with made an ineffective comment about "Letting the people choose..." or some such. I turned around with my face burning with shame and I promised then and there to NEVER go out on ANY holiday again. I didn't care if it was national pickle day! I am going to enjoy my day off, watch some parades on television, hubby and I are gonna watch some football games on television, drink some Hennessy, eat gumbo, maybe visit some family and friends and have a wonderful holiday!
Peace Out!

Is this CA experience mind control or worship of man?
by hoser inthis goes back some time several years perhaps even 10 or so.. .
i was at the circuit assembly and during the announcements the chairman said you may sit if you wish this will take some time to read this.
i forget what it was about but everyone sat down except the district overseer and his wife.. then the people sitting close by the do started to get up to stand again and there was this group of about 100 who were standing around the do.

I can remember my ex and I going to the bookstore in Long Beach during the DC and going to restaurants, practically tearing off the little convention badges...

Thorough Scriptural Destruction of the Practice of Judicial Committees
by kneehighmiah ini'm sure this has already been discussed.
but here are my thoughts on why jcs are unscriptural.. .
elders are instructed to look for works that befit repentance (acts 26:20).

Regrets for knowing the TATT? Strange feeling overcoming...
by BluePill2 intoday is a strange day.. i have been out of the borg for a while now.
some years have passed and i thoroughly enjoy the freedom, not having to bend my mind and rape my soul to force myself to do and say things that i don't feel or believe.
i started my own business, got a wonderful girlfriend and made some friends (that are not monsters like the wt$ likes to portray others).. my parents, siblings, brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, ex-wife, "friends" and my daughter, have cut their contact to me.

The more time I spend with "worldly people" the more I realize...
by confusedandalone in... that they actually have more of a desire to get to knoww you then jehovah's witnesses.
for years at the kingdom hall although i was an elder everyone "knew of me" but no one knew me.
i realized that i never really had a friend who knew anything about me as a person or my background.

My non-JW friends dont even bat an eyelash when I wear my tiny little silver nose stud. The JW's have a near coniption. I wear my hair natural, in either braids, twists or a big afro, I sometimes wear african-influenced clothing. I get the "look" from the extremely conservative elderly sisters. It tickles me that "natural" hair wasn't worn in this part of the country until maybe 3-4 years ago. Ah well...
