i wanted to make a few comments to those of you that have recently begun to question or have already left the wt and made their way onto this site.

this site is a great resource to learn how others are coping with leaving the organization and moving on into a fulfilling life.. i wanted to write this post because i think reading something like this would've been helpful to me to understand where a lot of people that comment on this site are coming from.

Perhaps you can show me threads where an atheist made remarks about their atheism and had some Christian come along and call them stupid and ignorant or even said that they were delusional.

Well, this thread is a great example where the opening volley was that atheists can't truly be content and are fooling themselves about their contentment without god.

But, that wasn't my point in the least. my point was that there are at least two sides to every story and when you start with the default position of pointing the finger at someone else as being wrong, you got three fingers pointing back at you.

Again, you take the Holy Spirit out of the equasion and it falls flat. How can you say or even know that the Holy Spirit had no part in directing the construction of the Bible? It seems a bit presumptuous to me...

But never to write or compile his holy writ. Besides, how do you know they were wicked? Are you sitting in judgement of them?

You need to take your time when debating.

Actually, from your VERY first post in this thread you employed circular reasoning. You know atheists can't be content because they have turned away from from. You know they turned away because the bible tells you so. you know they can only be content by knowing god because the bible tells you so. you know ghod wants man to know him because he told us in the bible. It all comes back to a circular reference.

I have seen nothing in it that causes me to doubt it's inspiration.

So it's ok to kill babies and beat your slaves to death as long they don't die for a day or two? Refusing a man with bad eyes access to the temple is a loving provision? Murder is OK as you get to a city of refuge, basically free parking? Hardening a people's heart intentionally so they will fight against and then you can slaughter them is OK?

So we are in the circular reasoning loop. You beleive in the bible because it's right. you know it's right because god wrote it. you know god wrote it because it's right and it told you so. you know the books in the bible are the right ones because the bible said holy spirit would direct god's men. you know god directed them because you agree with them that they picked the right books. you know they are the right books because god wrote them....

Adam and Eve and free will

lets just say, for arguments sake, the report in genesis about the first humans is not an allegory, but a true event:.

watchtower teaches, that adam sinned, because he used his free will to disobey.. god grants free will to his human creation, because he wants them to serve him out of love.. ok, good, but i give an example: i meet a girl, tell her, she is free to love me, but if not, i kill her.. would you call this free will ?.

Of course it doens't make sense. The idea of free moral agency was something added in later in an attempt to make god not seem like such a douchebag.

And you are right, if the consequence of free will is death, then it's not really free.

It's been bothering me for a long time, not so much that there are atheists Christians on this board, they have a right to their beliefs, but that they continually suggest that anyone who believes otherwise is stupid and ignorant. It seemed like many are on a mission and I'm tired of it.
