mistress has a certain quality about it that is somewhat honorable. A man is in a bad marriage, he stays for the kids etc etc.. his only method of coping is the woman he loves but cannot marry. Somewhat honorable and endearing

Defamation of character is based on damage, not accuracy of information. It doesn't matter if it was true, or believed to be true, false, intentional or non-intentional. It doesn't matter if it was based in love or concern, or out of maliciousness.
You would spend a lot of money and have no money, no restaurant and no customers in the end. In the example you pulled off the internet, truthfulness of the statement isn't ALWAYS a factor, but it is generally a huge one. In your specific case, you have no idea who said what. You can't show that you suffered materially.
Another huge is that this is specifically related to church matters, especially if a DF happens. People have tried and tried before. Consistently courts have refused to get involved in internal church matters.

i have seen the statement in the title thrown around a few times (bts, i think looking at you), and i thought i would throw out the question and see what happened.
i properly need to a few definitions: science will here be defined as both physics and mathematics which in turn is defined as: .
physics: stuff that happends in a laboratorie and stuff written about what happened or is expected to happend in nature.
I don't claim to understand how "telepathy", "imagination" etc works scientifically but as an arts student I can see the logic of it.
I have no idea what being an arts student or logic has to do with that. BTW, since you brought logic into it, we haven't established that telepathy exists yet :)
However I'm willing to put imagination, telepathy etc in inverted commas to suggest that there is more to those faculties than a precise dictionary definition of what the words mean.
Well, if you can't define what you are talking about then it becomes meaningless to attempt a discussion. As as arts student, you certainly wouldn't pass a test if you called Neaderthal cave art found in the south of France something else, like nouveau realisme just because you can't define them (not suggesting you can't).
I will say though that part of the logic is to do with the way that membranes function. In this respect I would not restrict skin, a membrane, simply to the empirical sense of touch.
