Do you know of ones who were mentally ill, that were labled as being demon posessed?
by miseryloveselders inwe have a few mentally ill ones in our congregation, and i don't mean suffering from depression or anxiety.
i'm not even talking mild bipolar.
i'm talking really messed up in the head, schizophrenic types, and bipolar withpsychotic features.

Knowledge of Good and Evil
by cameo-d inin 1 kings 3:9, solomon asks for wisdom to discern between good and evil.
in verse 10 we are told this request was pleasing to god that solomon had asked for this instead of riches.. wth?
adam and eve got kicked out of the garden for wanting that same knowledge!.

Tec...a distinction without difference. If you KNOW the facts about something then you can discern it. I KNOW what sweet tastes like and what sour tastes like, do I need WISDOM to know the diference?

How Can Jehovah be Perfect If We Aren't?
by WalkTall insomething that was said at the meeting yesterday made me think about this.
you know how the organization is always using the illustration of the broken mold and how adam could only pass on imperfection to his children because now he was imperfect.
how do they rationalize the fact that a perfect creator made people who were capable of making an imperfect choice?

All about Shelby
by watersprout ini wanted to post this thread about shelby.. she get's a lot of grief by what she posts on this site, so i thought i would start a post on how shelby has helped ones that have left the borg.. i can't begin to explain how shelby has helped me, i felt like i was in a hole and she gave me answers to the many questions i had.
no matter how many emails i bombarded her with, she always took the time to answer.
yes there has been times when i haven't liked what she posted, but i asked christ to help me understand and he did...... shelby helped me to open my mind and come to the realisation that the borg can no longer stop me from becoming the beautiful person i was destined to become.. i think i speak for many when i say thank you shelby!!!!.

Jehovah correcting the organization
by sabastious inread the account of moses taking the credit for the water provision miracle and that of king david's folly and his consequences.. ...read them.... ...you are still reading.... ...ok now you have that fresh in your mind.. jehovah had a correctional arrangement in place for all his spokesmen.
story of jonah would work great too.
the point being that in the bible god has always had this correctional arrangement for the leaders of his earthly organization.. that being said, where did that arrangement go?

Help with another 607 vs 587 question............

Sexism and the Organization
by brotherdan ini know this may be a touchy subject, but it's something that i think has been so obvious for the last few weeks at the meetings.
let me start by saying that i do understand the "headship" arrangement, and agree that it is biblical.. but it seems that the tendency is to take it way too far.
whenever speaking about training children, i've noticed that the boys are told to be trained by their fathers in various types of work, including trades.

Did I actually hear you say the Governing Body has very little power? They have the final say. They say jump and you are compelled to say "how high."
That's so not true, Sab. You're actually compelled to jump as high as you can as often as you can and then feel guilty for not being able to jump like Michael Jordan when he was 25.
