I think you are putting words into Jesus' mouth
Jesus was a guy who's dad was obsessed with penises, was a single guy traveling around preaching love with 12 other single guys, rubbing oil on their feet and taking boat rides together. I bet that wasn't the only thing put into his mouth.
And yes, on the incredibly impossible chance that God/Jesus are real, I AM going to hell for that thankyouverymuch.

Sure thing Syl. Although with me being from SC and you from AL, I suspect they are pretty similiar, so I will share something from my ancient homeland of Israel.
Shakshuka - Israeli Spicy Tomato Stew
1 lb meat - I prefer lamb, but have used chicken/basil/sun-dried tomato sausage, grilled flank steak and goat
Some serrano peppers and pimento peppers (jalapeno and bell will do in a pinch, though)
Cumin, curry and paprika to taste (it doesn't actually traditionally have curry, but I happen to like it and added some, so there!)
1 med onion
couple cloves of garlic
spinach
1 leek
1 large fresh tomato
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 zucchini
Feta cheese
some eggs
So.....
Dice tomato and start it simmering with can of tomatoes. Finely chop pepper, dice onion and start sautee together. Throw in crushed garlic with a few minutes to go on the sautee. Add in spices to sautee.
Dice zucchini, chop leek and add to tomatoes, add in all the stuff you just sauteed, add in spinach. Sautee meat of choice and add to stew. let it simmer together for about 20 or 30 minutes. crack eggs and gently put them on top and let them poach in stew for 5 minutes.
When done, ladle into bowl, sprinkle some feta over it and serve.

I bust into tears all the time. I get headaches and so sick to my stomach. My bf said no religion should cause someone so much pain. I agree.
I saw an old friend about a week ago. He said I looked better than he had ever seen me. My headaches, tiredness, all gone.

the point is that i wasn't "burned" in some incredible way by wts and i don't carry a huge chip on my shoulder from some incredible injustice from wts or the local elders.. i say this because some people have constantly accused me of being really screwed over by my experience because of my comments on others' threads.
i explained myself there for my reasons, but wanted to repeat what those reasons are here in my own thread.. i explained on some post somewhere that i had felt that i experienced "divine intervention" in my life at one time and that same intervention ended my suicide attempt.

Hi watersrpout. I only quoted you because you posted on the board about messases that Jesus was sending you. As as to whether it's god or jesus, well, there have been thousands of years of debate on that one, with people on all sides claiming divine communication. How am I supposed to pick who it right?
You left SO much out, dear NVL (peace to YOU!)... that it's not even worth me responding.

Not at all. If you think there is something I purposefully left out, please mention it and we can discuss. I left much out simply because I didn't have time to write a book responding to every single line you wrote. But again, if there is a salient point you feel I missed or is "too hard" for me, please, bring it to my attention. I will respond to it right after you send me the book, chapters and verses of the bible that are inspired and acceptable for use.

Hey, welcome to the site. I read your posts, I was a born in, just got myself out the hard way. You had it tough and like a lot of families growing up, it's clear the truth help break your family apart.
Something that's common, many here, myself included, have noticed, among those that want out but still "believe in Jehovah", is something I saw in your post.
There is a disconnect between this "He's into all types of mytholoical stuff and practices things that I don't even care to try to understand" about your brother and this "I believe in Jehovah. but the stuff that has happened to my family because of remaining faithful, sticking to God's standards, applying the fruits of the spirit, suppressing emotions of depression and anger, it is painful and has been very painful to live."
Imagine trying to explain Jehovah, Jesus, the GB, the Israelites....to someone that was raised to believe in unicorns, or, as this picture sums up, think about how ridiculous it sounds.
You're still partway in, but you have tasted the forbidden fruit and now know the difference and, like Eve in the story, find what you see with opened eyes to be appealing. You love your family and question the beliefs, but questioning is bad. You beleive in an invisible sky person, but think your brother is wacky for doing so.
As Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, " The mind, once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size." Someone else, I have no idea who, also said "I would rather have questions I can't answer than answers I can't question."
You are struggling with an expanded mind.
You have to figure it out for yourself, what you want to do, but I can do two things. I can tell you that I was afraid more than anything of the DF ad being shunned and it has turned out to be the best thing that ever happened. I have never felt better. Two, I can offer you some advice. Up to you whether or not you take it.
Question EVERYTHING.
Don't let your family send you on a guilt trip for asking questions and questioning the answers when they don't make sense.
Understand you have a right to your own life.
Don't fall for the line "you are making us shun you." You are making them do nothing. You are just choosing a different life. They choose how to react.
Ask yourself....what does "worldy" mean? Bad? Or just "not JW"? What makes being a JW so great?
Research the history of the org. See if it makes sense. I'll get you started. Try to find out when Russell orginally thought Armageddon was going to come. Find out if 607 is really true.
