"I've loved all your answers, but I was quite surprised nobody seems to have jumped straight from being very happy in the organization to being very happy outside, just me from what I've heard so far. Am I weird? I mean, I'm glad for myself, but your reasons for feeling down and disappointed, angry and confused are SO legitimate! Why didn't I go through any of that?" goldensky
I don't know about other people but I wouldn't say that I was "very happy" while in the organization. I am happier now, but it is something that must be worked at IMO.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 1-17-10 WT Study (PLACE IN CONGREGATION)

Blondie, I have to say that reading your commentary on this article changed my life. When I started reading your comments, I was so disturbed I went and found my copy of the WT that a family member always sends me that I never read. When I read this article, every piece of the puzzle fell into place for me. I had not noticed the manipulation and the glorification of the GB before. Because I was inactive, I hadn't read the literature for years, but still felt that JWs likely had "the truth."
I found the comments about never challenging God's channel, and being obedient to those in the lead, especially distressing. They have gone against the scriptures considering the fact that Abraham, a righteous man, persistently questioned Jehovah. So Jehovah can be questioned, but not the GB? That is so arrogant.
That disgusting illustration about the 2 sisters and the "desire" to pioneer showed the lack of concern for the individual that the GB has. All they are concerned with is using people up, and as the next article showed, you can also give them all your money and property in addition to your time, energy, and youth.
I will never forget this article. This is when I realized that this religion is in fact a cult. Now my mind can be free, so that I can live a "normal" life. Thank you for taking the time and effort to go over these articles Blondie.

How To Hurt The Watchtower Financially Don't Contribute And Get Gobs Of Books and Burn Them
by frankiespeakin infor those who still have to go to meetings or are still in for one reason or another but no longer beleive, why not hurt the wt finacially as much as you can by ordering books and getting as much literature as you can and not paying for it.. i would not want to suggest dipping your hand in the contributions destined for the wt coffers as that would be illegal but it has crossed my mind and morally i see nothing wrong with stealing from these frauds..

I barely paid for the stuff when I was in. And I never asked householders for contributions. It has crossed my mind to get lots of literature and trash it, but that would mean having to go to the meetings/assemblies- no thanks.

Being raised as a witness did you ever get the chance to choose your own personal religion?
by make yourself inwith me it never actually was the case.all i remember and still hear is make sure you stay with jehovah....sometimes you just get tired of the same terd getting shoved down your throat..
-
serenitynow!
Of course not. And even now, as an adult explaining to my mom why I will not be going to the memorial, and hope never to have to go to another KH, I get badgered. This religion is like the mafia or a gang- you get forced to join and do things you don't want to do, you can't ask questions, can't disagree w/HQ, and then you can't get out if you want to.

Are Any Of You Afraid of Dying At Armageddon?
by minimus ini'm not but i know some jws that have drifted but when things like 9/11 catastrophes occur, they're right back at the kingdom hall.. do you ever worry that the great tribulation might occur and you will die?.
-
serenitynow!
Nope. Don't think it is going to happen. And if it does, and I die, well you gotta die of something, right? I've made my peace.
Armageddon is just the JWs equivalent of other religions hellfire doctrine. It's meant to instill terror and compel obedience. I refuse to allow it to have a hold on me.

see what happens for "all" who venture into the wicked world
by booby inthis tripe from the june 15 tower.
how many of the witness kids "and adults" get into trouble right within the congregation.
just recently talked to an old friend still in whose witness son in law left his daughter for another and subsequently his daughter got hooked up with that ladys husband.

" It’s almost as if the WTS willingly set up young people to fail should they ever attempt to leave the JWs."
BK- It's not almost as if, that is exactly what they do. When you're in they make sure that you have virtually no contact with normal (worldly) people, and demonize the outside world so much, that if/when a person ventures out there, they are like a baby- emotionally immature and having a lack of "street smarts" in terms of dealing with worldly people. Then of course by removing the person's support system by marking, DF'ing, etc, the person is very likely to fail. They can then be held up as an example to the congo to make people fear leaving.
Another thing I have noticed is that the WT does such a good job of characterizing all worldly people as the same- all bad. I think that also has an effect on the JW who leaves the KH because he/she doesn't see that there are good and bad people in the world, and that you can find great people who are not JWs. I have seen where JWs that have left have not made good choices as to who they date/befriend and that adversely effected them.

It was devastating. I was angry, confused, felt physically ill. Being born in and really believing that I was worshipping God, to find out that it was all a lie was just really jarring to me. Just thinking of all the missed opportunities, wasted time, deaths of people I knew who felt that they were pleasing Jehovah by refusing blood, etc. made me extremely angry. I wanted to DA on the spot and tell everyone what I finally saw. I also had to consider the fact that everything I thought I knew about the bible I had been taught by THEM and their tainted literature, therefore I don't how much of what I know about the bible is even accurate.

Yes it is. I voted in the last presidential election and it felt so good! I think that it is part of being a part of the community- to be involved in trying to make things better. That was often an issue with householders in my congo's territory, they would often ask us if we voted, and would become angry when we said no.
