I think i will give out candy on halloween. I think it's unfair that all the time i was getting dressed up going d2d i never got any candy.

I never heard wild stuff like that. The best fs story i have is when i was in chicago with my friend. we were about 20. We were in the hood & my friend offered the wt & awake to these 2 young guys. one interrupted her and said he only wanted the mags if they were playboy's & she was in it. she got pissed & was like "ni***! does it look like i'm in playboy!!" Then she went on with her presentation. I was cracking up. I still feel like that was the most awesome fs day ever!

My condolences Empty inside. It will get better. Try to surround yourself with good encouraging people who will help you deal with your grief. As far as the sheparding call, let them know that because of your recent loss and depression you are just not up to it, but you really appreciate the gesture. When my grandmother died I went into a really deep depression, the brothers called my house several times, usually I just didn't pick up. I've found when you do speak with them to sound very depressed, they'll tell you to pray more and leave you alone. JWs do not deal well with depression.

Oh shamus I didn't know you cared!
It is exciting, but I still feel like a stranger in a strange land though. I'm thankful already, I'm free of it all. Once I knew that there was no god reading my thoughts (because they were usually not good, i.e. sexual, leading to repetitive prayers for forgiveness) anxiety just melted away. I didn't know my mind could be so calm.

Palmtree I'm glad that worked out for you. Be careful with signing IRS forms, my mother got tricked into signing by my father and ended up with a tax bill 10s of thousands of dollars, he skipped out scot-free.

WT Sept 15th KoolAid - the edition that just keeps giving

quite a bit of stuff to reflect on, especially the articles elevating the elders and gb.... but here's another gem..not as significant, but still interesting.
i grew up as a jw and it was verboten to say "bless you" or "gesundheit" after someone sneezes.

I understand why you acted that way, but that's rude to anyone other than a JW. I have always said thank you if someone says bless you. I still dont say bless you to people when they sneeze because I think it's stupid. But if someone tells me to "have a blessed day" I thank them and wish them the same.
If you really think about it, this is another means to make sure that JWs remain isolated. By refusing to allow JWs to engage in basic interaction with others by demonizing what really are just societal niceties, the GB further alienates them from the rest of the world. It works to keep them enslaved to the org, and also to keep them from being able to function in the world should they try to escape.
I still have to make myself say "happy birthday" to people, and I constantly feel like I am acting like a weirdo. A couple of my co-workers gave me Xmas gifts, and I felt really awkward, I didn't get them anything. I am thinking of designing a t-shirt that says "I was raised a Jehovah's Witness, so please forgive me for being retarded."
