"Can we not all relate to King Davids feelings as focused on in those Psalms?"
Is it just me or does that sound like WT verbiage?
never quit - never give up!it may well be, i put this post on once before, but when did a litle extra encouragement ever hurt anyone?
we need all we can get during these last critical days, don't we?.
how many of us at various stages of our life have not felt like king david, because of our inherited tendency towards sin?

...is going to get his punched out.
yes, friends, this is another thread about the latest generation teaching.
so, if you're sick to death of it, leave now, save yourselves.... anyhoo... as the wts has now unleashed on the world the true explanation of generation and what it means for those of us in this time of the end, dubs who accept without question this teaching are 'oohing' and 'ahhing' as the new explanation 'makes so much sense now'.
The WTBS has made me HATE the word "evidently"! That is almost as bad as the light getting brighter.
who were your past circuit overseers?
i'm sure a lot of us actually know mutual people, as the co's relocate all over the country.. here's a few from the southeast us: (let me know if you recognize any names and post yours too please...).
ellwood johnson (new york/philadelphia area for several years also).
"this is so funny, because last week our sunday talk speaker asked everyone: "do you guys know the names of the nobel peace prize winners from x,y,z,zz, years ago", but do you know the names of the faithful ones from the bible, moses, etc"?, "it show how people famous in the world mean nothing""
That is so dumb. He should have asked who the top sports stars were from any given year and there'd be lots of answers. Comparing things that don't go together, dumb. The average person doesn't care about nobel winners.

I know it's sickening. But of course I used to say it too. Also the less popular but no less irritating, "keeping up with Jehovah's chariot."
has anyone here gone that route?
i've been reading up on them and they sound interesting.
they even accept atheists!
I went to one once. It was interesting. When I went there was a guest pastor speaking who was actually a, I believe female-male transexual. His sermon was about "queerness." So of course coming from a KH upbringing you know that was mindblowing. The congregation was mostly middle aged to elderly white people. I was one of about 4 persons of color there. They were very nice, they had tea and snacks after, I met alot of people. They sang songs during the service One couple actually went out into the aisle and started dancing, I thought that was cute. It was nice, but I wish there were younger people there.
of a book that came out recently that was a woman's comedic memoir of growing up as a jw.
i remember the cover clearly, it was a picture of a little girl standing under an umbrella, with sun and green grass, and the umbrella was shielding her from armageddon with dark bldg's behind her and people running.
it was either last year or earlier this year that it came out.. any help is much appreciated .
I'm perfect, you're doomed. Kyria Abrahams
this morning i posted one of blondie's watchtower quotes (the ones that show what jw's really believe about who is going to be toast during armageddon) on a political discussion board.
the following is one of the replies i got (i don't suppose this would work with most witnesses, but it's still too funny not to share):.
18. a former co-worker kept giving me jw literature on our lunchbreaksso one day i decided to read one of his pamphlets and highlighted every sentence or paragraph that i knew that he did not adhere to or follow.. .
Wow why was the JW doing all that preaching if he knew he wasnt practicing it. I thought you were going to say that the guy highlighted all the crap that didnt make sense, that would work too.
so my mom is die-hard jw despite disagreeing with some teachings from the gb.
we were talking today about the generation thing, and she told me the generation teaching was inconsequential.
i told her how as a child i thought it was huge that the end would come before the 1914 people died.
She's 63. She's given her life to this org. Gave up a good job that could have put her through college to serve where the need was great. She's mentally ill & the society's stance on mental health treatment has done her no favors. she has held a variety of low paying jobs, no career no money, no close friends, no husband, no prospects and no hope for the future this side of armageddon. Of course if she got mental help she might somehow salvage the last part of life and find some joy.

Welcome jdub. I think she's written letters before, but that was in the 80s and a different elder body and cong. they knew she was a bit off and tolerated her. It might kill her to get df'd.

I told her how as a child I thought it was huge that the end would come before the 1914 people died. Now they have totally changed the meaning of generation into something absurd. I also told her that by JW standards she is an apostate for not being on board with the generation teaching. She was like "i'll write a letter showing them it's not scriptural!" She thinks she can do that w/out repercussions. Am i wrong to keep nudging her to write to the Society?
