Yeah it is weird that you would continue to study after that. It sounds like she was retarded.

Did you feel "something is wrong here" when you studied with JW?
by Albert Einstein ini started to study with jw when i was 19. my jw teacher was 30+ charismatic nice guy, comming with his wife.
when discussing "bad associations" i disagreed on completely avoiding company of worldly colleauges and friends.
the sister after several atempts to convince me got angry and told me: "does it encourage you to serve jehovah?

Suppose a worldly person knows too much about the WTS
by dgp insuppose a practicing and, to all appearances, true jw knew a worldly person (me) knows a lot more about the wts than the typical jw would expect.
i mean, the person knows the wts's structure, the general information about the basic theories (chronology, other sheep, the flocks, the anointed...).
i believe that this jw would immediately suspect that the worldly has visited "apostate" sites.

"what average american knows who the prime minister of Canada even is??..."
Ana dote, it may not be the dumb American who does not know the answer, but I'll admit it- the arrogant American (like me) who just doesn't give a crap!

As a Witness were you allowed to eat Easter eggs AFTER Easter and only if smashed up first??
by Witness 007 inmy favourite was a humpty dumpty full of mm's....but we could only buy them after easter and if we broke them up....my mothers orders.....tonnes of half price eggs after easter..

In our house we always bought deeply discounted post-holiday goods. In fact, I am looking forward to the Monday after easter- I'm buying a bunch of Cadbury chocolate eggs! If a JW objects I would just be like, didn't Paul say that it's not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles, but what comes out?

Would You Picket A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini know some zealots that have carried signs and peacefully picketed kingdom halls, especially on the memorial.. what do you think about that?.

Well since I am not DF'd, and have family to lose by going public- no. I can understand why some do. Even if they don't get a JW to think, at least they would be providing a community service to the people driving past.

Just saw a New World Translation on my co-worker's desk
by Brocephus inhe is kind of new but a nice guy... i knew there was something wrong with him.
just went over to ask him something and he had the cd-rom version of the nwt on his desk.
it was like count dracula seeing the cross.

It may not be as bad as you think. It's funny because I have the NWT cd here in my desk at work. Granted I have not listened to it since I found out it was a scam (the religion and hence all of their litterature), but it was given to me by a family member. Maybe that's why I haven't tossed it. I did in the past find it relaxing to listen to Proverbs if I was feeling kind of irritable.
Of course, it's in my desk, not on it like decoration. I say if he keeps it out, he is looking to do some witnessing on the job so don't acknowledge it.
I did work with a RN who would carry a WT sticking out of the pocket of her scrubs. I definitely avoided her.

How did you feel when you first spoke what you really felt?
by AudeSapere inhow did you feel when you first spoke what you really, really felt about the org.
when you had doubts but still thought it was the 'truth' and didn't want to stumble another jw with your doubts but also could not talk to worldly family or friends because they wouldn't understand.
then one day you find someone that you feel comfortable talking to and you actually say the things you were afraid to say about the org.

"Not unlike when JW's have their own "Christmas" the first week of January... so that it's 'not Christmas'"
We had our own Christmas? Not where I was living.

That's sad. I hope that my mother's love is not conditional. I never would have thought that she may treat me differently based on my religious beliefs, but recently she did say that I was talking like one of the "evil slave class," oh well.
