MM, I believe you. I've seen more than a few JW parents allow kids to drink before 21. My mom, friends mom didn't care about a few sips. We didn't get drunk though.

What exactly are you concerned about? Just because a person is depressed and seeking treatment does not mean the person is suicidal or wishes to harm others. It's the people with mood disorders who refuse to seek help that you should be concerned about. BTW, when you are on anti depressants it is not on an as needed basis, the pilot would be taking meds daily.
Depression is common and very treatable. Now if the pilot is on meds for say, paranoid schizophrenia, that is another story altogether.

One thing that especially irritated me when the CO came, was that "regular" publishers were never assigned talks that week in the TMS. Had to be all pioneers and MS or elders. As another poster said on a diff thread, the visit was just a big dog and pony show!

when your worldly boyfriend calls the house, your mom answers and she gets out her big brown reference bible and reads the Sermon on the Mount to him.
you don't go to parties, you go to "gatherings." (a friends mother considered party a dirty word)
every non JW book is monitored- my mother ripped up some of my library books she didn't like!

Define "Ex jw"?

i note some people are asking if they are allowed to participate in a questionaire for ex jw's if they are just fading or have not been df'd?.
my own situation is this: tecnicaly i am a jw, baptised as a young tweeny and never reproved, df'd or da'd.

I believe like cantleave that being an ex JWis a mindset, because people can be physically away from the congregation and still hold all the orgs beliefs. I am not DFd or DAd but I do consider myself an ex. I havent preached in 8 years or been regular at the meetings, and very recently have come to really know and hate that organization. I do feel though that getting past feeling controlled by the org is a process, not something that can be overcome quickly.

As a Witness were you allowed to eat Easter eggs AFTER Easter and only if smashed up first??
by Witness 007 inmy favourite was a humpty dumpty full of mm's....but we could only buy them after easter and if we broke them up....my mothers orders.....tonnes of half price eggs after easter..
