Never happen! They would lose so many people. Even though the literature and doctrines don't seem Jesus-centric, most JWs do consider themselves christians (I sure did). I think they would lose active JWs and potential converts- mainly alot of black people. As a black person, let me tell you- nobody loves the Lord like black folks. If they said they weren't even pretending to be christians anymore, black people would be like, WTH?

DO OVER
by JeffT ini got to thinking about this reading the thread about scriptures they don't use (they have a real problem with jesus.
seems they could solve a lot of problems by just announcing that they aren't a christian religion at all, they're a jewish sect!
they would no longer have to worry about all that stuff jesus said about forgiveness and love.

Perhaps you can provide a sample of what you found offensive?
No it was so long ago, I don't have it. I found it graphic given the setting. I still do not understand why in a religious setting we had to have a discussion about various kinds of sex. In the family, yes, parents should educate their children about sex as they see fit. And I do believe it is the parents job to talk to their own children about these matters, certainly not the congregation's. I felt that it was generally well known what constitutes sex, and that in terms of the scriptures and the JW rules, sex is totally immoral for persons who are unmarried- I don't understand the need for detail. I do not understand the "Christian Congregation's" perceived need to dictate to married persons the various sexual acts they can and cannot do. There is no sense of boundaries in this org. Also, I would like to know the scriptural basis for the belief that certain sexual acts are unchristian, and the belief that the GB has the right to assert itself as the judge of what is proper in the "marital bed." I did end up just getting up and going to the rest room when a couple of elders disagreed w/each other at length during the WT study about whether oral sex is ok. Maybe I just have a dirty mind, but the brother who was so fervently for oral sex was putting some bad images in my mind, he and his wife are very unattractive, ok? I could have done w/out that.
I will admit, I was born in, I have never been a member of a church, do mainstream churches have sermons about sex for the entire congregation? What exactly is discussed?
And as far as skipping a meeting you considered inappropriate or not pertinent to you, that will go over really well w/the busybodies who want to know where you were last Sunday!

Anyone feel like this?
by Strider Arekksu ini remember i was not always very good at social settings, i was good at analyzing them but bad at participating them, i am always in my head so its hard for me to get influenced by people if i don't get a good feel for them, so it's hard to brainwash me i guess.
when i was in this organization, i knew the tactis they were using in the paragraphs and the way they were writing were ways to trap people mentally, but i just shrugged it if off, i just made excuses, and literally thought, i'll deal with this pothole latter, i got brought in through my grandma, so i never was literally convinced that it was right.
i always remembered when the question "will witnesses be the only ones saved" came up, they gave shady answers, which meant yes, but they didn't want to say it, and knew it didn't make sense and wasn't scriptual.

I think they were just telling US how money is not important. I think that whoever is really getting rich at the top of this org is very much concerned about money. People want to make it seem like there is some loftier reason for what this org does, please, it is all about money. And for the R&F- the males- who aren't getting the money, there is the feeling of self importance they get from being able to ruin people's lives.

by palmtree67 ini was searching on amazon for books and came across this review.9,248 of 9,637 people found the following review helpful:the secret saved my life!, december 4, 2007by ari brouillette (kensington, ca united states) - see all my reviews.
this review is from: the secret (hardcover) please allow me to share with you how "the secret" changed my life and in a very real and substantive way allowed me to overcome a severe crisis in my personal life.
it is well known that the premise of "the secret" is the science of attracting the things in life that you desire and need and in removing from your life those things that you don't want.

"Chalam the discussions they have about sex are educational and hardly graphic."
Krettnawe, I have to strenuously disagree with you on this. I remember maybe about 8 years ago being at a WT discussion that was all about sex. For whatever reason, the GB felt it necessary to commit an entire article to what kind of sexual relations are appropriate for Christians. There was actually a paragraph that specifically mentioned oral and anal sex. I remember thinking, why on earth am I sitting in the hall on a Sunday morning discussing various sex acts? I don't know the reason for the article in the first place. If you're not married, you're not supposed to have any kind of sex, and if you are married, people should be minding their own business and not worrying about what you do. I thought it was very inappropriate and graphic. And what exactly was educational about that? Maybe it was educational for the little kids who probably didn't know about such things prior to studying them in a "religious" magazine.
I will agree that the Society's view of making sexual matters a topic for congregational discussion is not at the root of the pedophile problem. The Society is just a corrupt, deceitful organization interested only in money and power, NOT the individual, and are definitely not concerned with following scripture.

Hospitalization. I get tongue tied and add a couple extra syllables.
"I believe, would be "sucking the teats". he kept saying it would "be suckin' the tits". "
Hey minimus, what scripture is that. I don't remember any references to "teats" at the KH.

Some stay FOR the control?
by SearchingForMe ini have been wondering lately...do some stay in the borg for the control?.
let me expand that question.
do some currently in the disorganization stay specifically for the sense of control it gives them over others(mate, children, family, friends) and the way it lets them have perceived control of others?.

Yeah the hardcore JWs can be very dogmatic. I think me and my mom are just going to have to agree to disagree, if that's possible! lol
