I have an adn. I would love to get a poly sci degree and maybe do legal nursing. I have wanted to do travel, but I'm going to stay where I am, since I'm learning things there. That wage list seems pretty low.

The Wedding Talk-A Humiliation to Women
by WalkTall init is so strange how you look at things so differently when your eyes are open.
i recently went to a witness wedding and listening to the talk with the constant emphasis on the bride having a 'head' and being submissive to her head was painful to listen to.
and how the bride has to say 'deeply respect' while the groom does not, is the epitome of misogyny.

Tammy the OP did put this question under social- dating and relationships, so my mind was not thinking biblical. I have seen some male Behemoths, frightening!

If I remember correctly, the great Al Bundy said a Behemoth was an extremely large, unattractive woman!

Honestly, I would love to switch careers. I'm looking into other things. Of course, the job market being what it is, I don't see a dream job presenting itself soon. I don't hate actual patient care, I have found it fulfilling, but the conditions are stressful.
Don't mind me, I know I sound whiny, & with so many out of work I should not complain. Even if I have to work the worst nursing job (I have) I'm still better off than most. The job I have is not that bad, I have worked alot harder for alot less money.

What Are Your Favorite WT Quotes/Teachings? Most Ridiculous or Hilarious Ones.
by mentallyfree31 inwhen you look back over the 130 year history of wt, what is the most bizzare/ridiculous/hilarious/absurd teaching or quotes that you have found?.
one of the ones i find hilarious is during the beth-sarim affair, rutherford announced that the world was laughing and mocking them because they don't believe the resurrection is going to come to pass when they said it was.
rutherford went on to say in effect "we will show them when people start coming back from the graves"... lol.

The fact that they didn't want you to watch things that are christian/bible oriented that they didn't author. I mean watching something like Veggietales. It incorporates bible principles into the stories, but if you ask a JW, they will be against watching it- and it's a much better show than alot of the dramas I've seen. Any kind of religious utterances discouraged, "god bless, have a blessed day." I mean I'm not religious, but when I was JW, I was like what's wrong with responding politely to a person who said that to you? Usually they would say something condescending, and ridicule the person later.

That Beth Sarim thing just threw me. I cannot believe JWs back then watched that play out and still stayed in. When I read about it in the news online, I was so embarrassed. I mean how could JWs not be like, "okay you are so retarded." Miracle Wheat too, insane.
I always found it difficult to see how all prophecy could be linked to JW.

Why do I feel like a Barbie???????
by babygirl30 ini said that to my therapist yesterday morning...told her that the best way for me to describe my life was to sum it all up and say 'i feel like a barbie' - cause i do!!!.
every aspect of my life was controlled: what i am supposed to wear, my 'role' as a female in the cong, getting baptized, going in service, how i'm supposed to act and talk, who i'm to associate with (or not), going to meetings, driving 'certain' cars (no 2-doors), how to do my hair, whom to date and marry, blah blah blah...... when you add it all up - that is a barbie's life!!!
any girl that has played with barbie's understands that you are purely in control of 'her'.

Yes Loz, this religion is very good at straining out the gnat, and gulping down the camel.
I personally find a couple things humiliating in the wedding ceremony period. I find that the notion of a woman being "given" in marriage by a father, or other male is degrading. I guess in times when people got married as teens, straight from daddy's house to the husbands, and the whole thing was more a financial transaction, it may have served some purpose. But for a grown woman, out on her own, doing her own thing, to have to be given away, is repugnant to me. Even when I was a JW, I felt like, if they were going to force me to take part in that foolishness in addition to that horridly long stupid wedding talk, I'll just get married on the beach on an island by a J.O.P.
I also don't like the fact that the guests do not stand when the bride comes out, is there some sort of "pagan" reason why they can't? Don't tell me, it's some kind of idolatry, right?
Sorry for the rant, but I feel better.
