Why Did I Allow My Hopes to Get Raised?
by XJW4EVR ina couple of months back, my son asked me to get in touch with my jw/elder father.
he is planning a trip to colorado to visit his mother's family there, and thought it would be good to see his grandfather.
since i have no contact with my father, i asked my cousin to broach the subject with him.

John Travolta...
by Snoozy inhe is 56 and his wife is 47..they are expecting a baby!.
can you imagine..he will be older than me when his kid graduates hs... and she will be in her middle to late 60's... makes me feel young again.... .

I think it's risky for them to have a kid at their age. very risky given the fact that they dont believe in getting medical care. better pray hard the kid is healthy, & momma doesnt experience complications due to her advanced maternal age.

The no beard or facial hair rule
by Soldier77 inokay, something that has always been a side point but still a rather ridiculous rule is that brothers cannot "serve" if they have a beard/goatee/anything more than just a moustache.
at least in the states, i've heard of some congregations in some countries allow this, but they are the exception?

I'm glad my children don't have to grow up being afraid of cupcakes
by Ilovebirthdays inyesterday, i brought a batch of cupcakes to my son's school.
in passing them out, i started to give one to one of the children, who was a jw.
he immediately started freaking out and screaming "no thank you" over and over.

I think the fear comes because your parents teach you that jehovah is watching you eat the cupcake! And even as little kids we knew what would happen to those who made god angry! Being a JW kid is very burdensome. I tell you, the minute I stopped thinking that god was watching my every move, and reading my every thought, so much of the fear just melted away!

What Hinders the Governing Body From Learning From Their Mistakes? Could Delusions Of Being Jehovah's Chosen Ones be to Blame?
by frankiespeakin inwe all suffer delusions but some are worse than others, and if the governing body's delusions of believing they are spoke person for jehovah are deep then they can not learn from their mistakes,, at least not when true honesty is involved.
this delusion will color things so heavily and cause them to play loose with the truth even to their own selves that learning from mistakes is out of the question for them,, i think this pathetic double get more generation time new light,, kind of gives you an idea that they ain't all right up stairs so it looks like we will be able watch them go from one blunder to another as they seem to be on auto pilot because of this delusion they have...

I don't think they are delusional at all. They know exactly what they are doing. I think your average R&F JW is being lied to. The GB are in on it. They're at the top! Just look at the history of this org, they have always said crazy things. It's the mind control that keeps people in.
