there is a sister in my former kh that has helped over 100 people to baptism.
she is a genuinely nice person, and a very low key person.
she is pretty much fairly quiet and keeps to herself.

Just wondering, if somebody like this "wakes up" and realizes they are in a cult, what feelings do you think somebody like this would experience? Sure, she studied with them and "brought them in" in all sincereness and was simply doing what she believed was right.
Would there be feelings of guilt? Sadness? What do you think?

and i'm so scared.
but, excited at the same time.
for those of you who don't know, i'm leaving my husband.
Good luck! I wish you the best!

when you were a jw, did you pray regularly with your spouse?
what about a "family study"?.
i was a pioneer and ministerial servant, but praying with somebody was always the most awkward, uncomfortable thing ever.
It's funny that so many people didn't do this, even thought it was pounded so hard at all the meetings. Personally, I have great reading comprehension and love to read, but doing it with somebody else, I don't get anything out of it. I prefer to read privately in a quiet place.

i'm about 80 percent through the book "a history of the end of the world" by jonathan kirsch.
i have enjoyed it immensely.
it focues exclusively on the book of revelation: who wrote it, the context of what was happening in the times in which it was written, along with the way revelation has affection generations over a span of 1900 years.
I definitely plan on getting the second book in the future.

i wanted to say hello.
i knew i was gay.
i wanted to study and learn about everything i could.
Welcome to the forum. Your story is really inspiring. Thanks for sharing it for us. I'm sorry for the pain of losing your entire family. But I'm glad you are free of the WT control.
Best of luck to you. I look forward to seeing you around the forum here.

since the sheparding visit a few weeks ago i have had three phone calls and two drop bys from the elders .
we have been gone both times they stopped by (but our son saw them and did not answer the door ).
the phone messages are directed to me not my husband, and the one left today he sounded a bit on edge .
Just remember: the elders do not have any authority over you. They don't carry guns, they can't arrest you - they can't do anything. Actually they can do something: they CAN be very annoying. I feel your pain. Hopefully they will get the point and leave you alone.

example: gravity is real.
because if 607 bce is wrong, then so is 1914 and 1918 and 1919. very simple.
so if we cannot trust secular research, then we can definitely discard the date of 607 bce.
diamondiiz - If I have read this before, I honestly don't remember it. Interesting. I'm glad to know this. The rabbit hole keeps getting deeper and deeper!

It's a very enlightening ride. He discusses in detail the different peole that have risen up and amassed followers from their imaginative interpretations of the book of Revelation. Also it's been entertaining to read of different people's suggestions for the meanings of the visions laid out in Revelation, esp when studied in the context of a Jew in the first century. I certainly recommend this book!
Have you read this book? What did you think? I also see that he is the author of another book called "The Harlot by the Side of the Road". Has anybody read this one? Please give your opinions if you have.
Thanks!

Flipper - Thanks a lot. The funny part is that Ray Franz had already wrote his book a year or so before my family came in around 1985. This has forever impressed upon me the power of careful research. My BS meter stays on very high alert now.
