  i dreaded it!

  i've seen brothers freeze-up doing prayers with long uncomfortable silences to think of what to say.

  sometimes my mind would just go blank and i would panic at the thought if i paused.

  Good stuff Sweetpea. Thanks. I copied this to a Word file for later use.

  As my brohter shared with me a few months ago: If we can't rely on secular history, then we can DEFINITELY throw out 607, because there is no way to arrive at 607 or 587 or any other date without secular history. The bible is silent on the matter of dates. So without accepting the secular date of 539 BCE, there is no possible way to forumulate any calculations.

  Blondie - I did the TMS schedule for years and I always assigned the prayers just like talks. Same for the person that did the service meeting. It was our way of doing it here.

  to be entitled "offering the bible - what is its message?".

  possibly a tract or brochure - haven't had any other details yet.

  maybe they are even going to offer the bible (now that would be a novelty!).

  The first campaign I remember - they had brought it back in the 90's I believe - but they hyped it up so big and I remember thinking "wow, the end is really near"...

  Why the Numbers Keep Increasing

  have you ever read that riddle that asks if you would rather have a million dollars or a penny doubled every day for 30 days?

  it shows how the penny eventually adds up over $5 million dollars in the course of month.. i think that's what's happening with the wtbs - it's not (obviously!!!

  ) holy spirit or anything other than simple incremental increase.

  Simply put, they have 7 million members knocking on doors every month. And preaching to their non-witness families. And informal witnesses. And on the streets.

  It's just a numbers game. When they find a person in the right frame of mind - depressed, distressed, sad, lonely, etc - they walk them right into the organization.

  One I got in tight with the young rebellious ones a few years ago, nothing was ever a surprise. We knew exactly when all announcements were coming and what they would be and what the person did.

  CO visit, end is nigh

  spoke to my jw husband today ( we dont live together), he has the co visit this week..." the end is very close now,we need to stay focused, now is not the time to be missing meetings,co was very positive, a great speaker, i sense myself that the end is just round the corner"......hmmmm i remember a co visit around 1990, i too thought the end was just around the corner, in fact my daughter would not start school lol, her son started school 2years ago.. did i miss something or do i have to wait till my grandsons kids go to school..... loools.

  how could i have wasted so many years, is there a syndrome for this ????

  I remember my dad telling me in 1990 that we don't know exactly when "but it will surely be here by 1994, there's just no way it could go on that long"..
