I woke up on December 18, 2009. Started to fade immediately, slowly at first. Last meeting was the memorial in March/April (can't remember the date).

i started reading "apostate" books when i was a teen at the library.
it was more curiousity than anything else.
at home, i used to read all the old publications and i'd notice how beliefs had changed.. with ray franz's books that i read clandestinely, i started to realize the truth about "the truth".

could it be the holiday weekend and they don't have anything better to do?.
If they can conjure up 607, 1914, 1918 and 1919 in the bible, I'm ready to reconsider.

it's funny how when you think you've gotten queued up in the paradise line how you'll pooh pooh detractors.. age has a way of sobering you up.. of course the internet was a great help.. if you want to find out what's wrong with anything, all you have to do is select the topic and throw in a pejorative, and bam!, you've got hundreds if not thousands of people who'll give you the other side.. if you've not in a jw family, and you're not a mental troglodyte, i can't see anyone making that koolaid-bath plunge into jw-land..
gubberningbody - I didn't realize you were a former apologist. I've only been on the forum for a month or so.

just a simple question this time.
say a special pioneer came to town, and i gave him a place to stay at home.
would i get anything from it, in terms of privileges or the like?.
Witness 007 - Hilarious! Funny stuff. What did they say when you asked for money?

recently i have been approached by an elder and asked if i could get going again in the door to door preaching activity due to not having any time in for three months.
i told him it was due to health reasons, etc.
now it seems i am due for a sheperding call in the very near future.
Just simply decline the shepharding call, and if they ask again just decline that also. As Blondie says, they aren't gonna DF over not wanting a shepharding call.

to everything turn, turn, turn...... a generation comes and a generation goes:.
first, it was god's promise that some of the generation of people who witnessed the events of 1914 would still be alive when the great tribulation starts.. it was speculated that a generation could be 40 years, 70 years, 80 years, 100 years, or even possibly 120 years long.. then, as the years went by, year after year after year passed by... no end in sight.. finally in the 1980's and 90's, it was announced that the generation would include all of those people who were born in 1914. that bought them another few years.. for decades, each and every issue of awake!
magazine featured this declaration at the beginning:.
Good breakdown. Thanks!

i've heard of some jw leaders telling members of the congragation they shouldn't have guns for self defense.
i mean, how is someone going to feel comfortable smiting your other cheek if you have...like...a .357 magnum pointed at their face?
i'd probably smile and say, "hey, that's an unusual color for a bible!
My presiding overseer about three years ago mentioned to me in a van full of people that he doens't have a gun for self defense. He explained that if somebody ever should break in his house, he will lie down and explain to them that they is a JW and that they do a good work in helping people.
I spoke up and said "while you are explaining all that to him, when he comes into my house I'm gonna go ahead and shoot him".
He didn't really say much. I could tell he didn't approve.

i was out riding my motorcycle today and passed my old kingdom hall only 2 miles away.
it was just before the sunday meeting and they were walking into the kh.
being da'd for 6 years it has been that long since i've seen any of them.
It's really sad to me when you see them in town all dressed up in a hurry. They feel so superior to everybody else, and feel like they have something so special. They just "know" that they are right and everybody else is wrong. I can relate because I was there with them just a few months ago.
Very sad.

just setting the record straight.
there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.
he is still alive.
Ray Franz truly changed my life. I am very sorry to hear this.

You would have the privilege of getting preached to about pioneering and full time service.
LOL
