Funny, but all they would have to do it roll it out in the Kingdom Ministry and those folks would be loading up the tissue in the car..
LOL

this weeks service meeting was typical.. "where were you?
" "i'm concerned about you".
then the typical song and dance of the parts/talks, all recycled notions of doing better in the service.

although i was born into this religion/cult in 1963 and didn't leave until a few years ago, i just now ordered crisis of conscience and in search of christian freedom from commentary press.
i'm very much looking forward to reading these.. even though ray franz is gone, his important work continues.
i hope many more people can find out the truthtm about the wts..
Both of Ray's books are excellent and essential.

i'm around half way through ray's second book and have just read about this and the way the gb knows it but insists on implying that it is a pattern from the first century to be followed !!!
unbelievable....how could they be so deceitful and sleep at night ...let alone pray...??
?.
Let's go even deeper Lozhasleft: The door to door work brings in hardly anybody. First of all, we are beating on the doors of empty houses. For years, I would quite often go all morning and talk to nobody or just one or two people. Second, look around - almost all the increase is coming from family members getting other family members in, informal witnesses, etc.
I baptized three people in 25 years and none of the 3 was a result of house to house work. Friends of friends and family members of people that I met while studying with their family member.
My former congregation has gained about 40 new ones in the last 6-8 years. Basically every one of them were family members or extended family members or referrals from other witnesses - it was NOT from house to house.
Disclaimer: In some countries, the house to house work does bring in many. I'm not qualified to speak on the specifics of that. I'm speaking of my experience in the southern US and surrounding areas. Perhaps others can add their comments on this issue as well.
The house to house work is the cult's way of keeping people busy. And it's a huge mental thing - because their NWT bible says house to house and they can point to it and say "our religion is special" because nobody else does it.

During the last five years, I would usually sit in for the morning session and pretend to listen. After the mid-morning song I would get up for half hour or so and come back a few mins before lunch. In the afternoon session, I would sit for one or two talks...then it was to the corridors to go walking and talking with other jws. I would come back to my seat about 15 mins before the concluding song.

i'm wondering if this phrase is perhaps being pushed recently in letters to the elders or circuit overseers.
i have heard it a time or two here in the last few days on the forum - specifically from a bethelite.. also, the last conversation i had with my presiding overseer about 5 weeks ago, he used this exaxt phrase: "i believe armageddon is only weeks away".. i know its been right around the corner for 130 years, but it seems this exact phrase seems to be floating around a lot lately.. what are your thoughts?
jw's usually don't think for themselves - they just repeat what those above them say.
crisis of conscience - LOL good one! Hilarious...

back in december, when i awakened from the wt mind control - i would wake up for several weeks in the middle of the night thinking "what are you doing?
you know the witnesses have the truth".
every day or so these thoughts would return.
thanks everybody for your comments..

I should mention, I am fine now. It was just those first few weeks. It was quite scary at first.

What are your thoughts? JW's usually don't think for themselves - they just repeat what those above them say. So it seems maybe this is being handed down from the top lately.
Agree or disagree?

Back in December, when I awakened from the WT mind control - i would wake up for several weeks in the middle of the night thinking "what are you doing? You know the witnesses have the truth". Every day or so these thoughts would return. This lasted 4 to 6 weeks for me probably. When this would hit me really strong - it was pretty powerful emotions..would make me feel quite anxious and nervous. I usually resorted to re-reading large portions of "captives of a concept" by don cameryn and portions of crisis of conscience and that would help me to shake it off.
Did you experience this also? What other fears/feelings/emotions did you experience? How long did it last? How did you cope?
