i just finished reading the book entitled "opening the door to jehovah's witnesses" by trevor willis.
it's a 205 page book, and it's very easy to read.
i found it to be an excellent book.
Gladiator - Wow, thanks for appearing and claiming this work. Excellent job. I really enjoyed it. I just finished it last night.
Have you made any progress with any family members since you wrote this book?

i watched some interesting older videos of steve hassan earlier tonight.
i then realized that i have never really researched the "moonies".
i have read both of hassan's books on mind control and have even helped others to leave wt.
I watched some interesting older videos of Steve Hassan earlier tonight. I then realized that I have never really researched the "Moonies". I have read both of Hassan's books on mind control and have even helped others to leave WT. I decided to do a little research.
It's interesting as you read from Hassan's perspective, and you see the deception and manipulations from the beginning. However, it really hits home when you go to the Unification Church's official website. It's all these pictures of people smiling, holding hands - they look like the most loving organization around. Even the biographies of the senior leaders are all about love and families. One of his daughters graduated from Harvard University a few years ago.
It just really hit home with me, the public face that an organiztion puts on (like Watchtower), and the manipulation and mind control that really goes on in the background. It was very enlightening to me.

i will tell my main problems i have with the wts:.
too many meetings...repetition of material...the name "jehovah"...baptising of minors...disfellowshipping of minors or anyone who does not wish to remain in the congregation...the translation of the "new world translation"...timeslips for service hours...young children being called ''ministers''...the constant worship of "the faithful and discreet slave"(who make themselves more important than jesus)...all the rules and regulations in every aspect of your life...the constant reminder to do ''more''... lies as to what is happening inside the wts...the fighting between congregation members...no reading of any other source other than the wts material...and on and on..
Mainly, just stealing 26 years of my life.

.
i'm very thankful for the many apostate jw elders in our midst, public and lurking.. .
truly, jehovah is speeding up the work in these last days..
Obviously, Jesus is refining again. Maybe it won't be invisible this time.

my school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.
to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.
what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.
I don't really know what to say. I'm sure glad I'm OUT.

I just finished reading the book entitled "Opening the Door to Jehovah's Witnesses" by Trevor Willis. It's a 205 page book, and it's very easy to read. I found it to be an excellent book. I had never heard of it until my father emailed it to me.
He covers lots of good topics, and references several well-known people including Ray Franz, Randy Watters and Steve Hassan.
I liked his approach very much, and some of the things he covered were even new to me. Lots of good quotations along the way too.
Have you read this book? What did you think?

does anyone ever think about when you are an ex jw and did not finish college, and how you handle that?.
by luck and skill i have always had a good job without a degree, but i found another opportunity, actually it is a municpal position, not a publicly traded or privately held company which i am used to working for for a decade.. i think i could squeek by on my 10 years of experience in my field, and the fact that i am in the process of enrolling and transferring credits to complete my degree.. so how would you handle that questions: "so do you have a degree in xxxx, what is your education background, etc?".
what i have said in the past, and it has helped as i got a subsequent job offer, is "due to circumstances, i did get married relatively young, and started a family, and was unable to finish college, because i put raising my children first.
I love college. I hope you can go back one day and finish. It is a lot of fun, especially as a normal person. No pressure, no awkwardness around the hoildays, just blending in and making friends.

on my drive through louisiana this afternoon, i stopped by the casino and asked the lady to show me how to play the video gambling games.
i fed my money into it, and committed a "gross wt sin".
it felt quite liberating.
Apparently, leaving the organization and helping others to leave is not a disfellowshipping offense either. I have told 4 elders that I don't believe any of it, and they know that I've helped others to leave. One year later, all quiet.

who determines what issues to address in the watchtower and awake?
i don't mean the actual writing.
which topics get lead articles?
Once I read the older literature, it seems like they just recycle it back through every few years. Not much thinking is required.
Example: I didn't realize that prior to 1975 they did the push to get people baptized within six months. Then they dropped it. In 1996, I thought that was something brand new, when they announced to study for 6 months ang get them in quicker. And if they weren't making progress, then drop them and move on. Funny how they use the same tactics over and over.
