I must admit: At last year's district convention, I sat on the top row and played on facebook on and off all throughout the day.
LOL

this is the first study article from the april 15, 2010 watchtower, titled "young people - strengthen your desire to serve jehovah.
" i hit paragraph four and i just had to pause to comment.
i am pretty darn sure this is a softening of the jehovah's witness stance regarding the appropriate age for baptism.
I was 11 when I got baptized. That was in 1989. I really don't remember what the counsel was at that time.
Quick question: If a circuit assembly had nobody getting baptized, do they still have a baptism talk?

i have not posted in a very long time, but here is a link i thought might be of interest.
it made our local paper, likely sent by the jws for some more free publicity.. http://communities.canada.com/vancouversun/blogs/thesearch/archive/2010/05/27/what-is-the-most-widely-read-magazine-in-world.aspx?commentposted=true#commentmessage.
i posted a reply under their comments.
I regularly threw away stacks of magazines every few months.

so im out of town for a couple of days for a software seminar.
it didnt start until noon yesterday so i took a walk down a busy street famous for its shopping and as i got to the end of the stores and the beginning of apartments i noticed two women standing on the sidewalk in front of what i later noticed was a kingdom hall.
as i started walking by giving them a smile and a polite greeting the one that was older, they were both young based on my terms the older in her 30s middle to late the younger in her 20s probably late.
I'm gonna have to draw some JW's out in a crowd one day when I see some in an out of town place where nobody knows me. That will be fun as I ask all the right questions to make them cringe.

Every time I see an update, I am SO GLAD that I wasn't there to listen to all their bullsh**. It's a GREAT feeling knowing that I will never have to sit in a crowd of 5,000 people again and listen to speakers scold me about facebook, worldly people, overtime, pornography, the interweb, twitter, texting, worldly family, secular reading, workmates, school sports, and football.
What about everybody else? Are any of your JW friends going to the convention this weekend?

according to this group the watchtower is the most widely spread magazine in the world.. i imagine that michael belkin must be one of us with his comment, right?.
.
.
I just wonder: I was a MS and was going to every meeting and being told that I MUST read the Watchtower and Awake so I can get everlasting life, and I didn't pick one up and look at it for years except to offer them to a householder. I literally went years without reading a single issue.
Do people at the door really read them? I'm gonna say very few. Unless the subject on the cover for some reason really interests them or relates to a problem they are going through at the time perhaps...
Just my opinion..

they insist you must wear you and whats more it must be placed in clear view for everyone else to see.. i have been challenged before now " sister!
are you wearing your badge!?
" it made me wonder why?
As many others on here, I gave up wearing them a few years ago. Sometimes I would put it on my suit coat, but our convention center was so awful and always hot in the corridors, that I never wore my coat.

food was passed from one side and if you were #10 you may not get too much to eat!
when i finally did, she was not at all interested.
but i was lucky it didnt work out, for she never would have left the watchtower.
Very interesting Randy. I really didn't know much about your story until now. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series.
Also, I have thoroughly enjoyed your other writings: (1) Thus Saith the Governing Body and (2) Understanding Mind Control Among Jehovah's Witnesses. Both of those were extremely helpful in my "awakening" this past December.
Many thanks to you for all these writings.

what do you think of the doomsday message below from a jw who works in investments?.
my dear friends.
you may not want to read this, but we cant just bury our heads in the sand.. .
The statement that 90% of his predictions come true is not supported with any facts. It's like WT saying that Jesus chose the bible students in 1919 because they were faithfully preaching the truth as revealed in the bible, and then not providing a list of what the bible students were teaching up to 1919.

my thoughts on ray franz.
living down here in the backwoods of alabama, we were privy to very little of what was going on in wt world.
most of us never heard about the shake-up at headquarters during the 80's.
I enjoyed that Sylvia. Very nice.
