It seems that Andy Cole is the most well known so far. Several people mentioned they know him. I didn't know him personally, but I do know 3 of his siblings and his dad.

Dick Jones (anointed)
Jesse Cantwell

James and Cynthia Roberts (in California now)
Calvin and Susan Gillard (around Nashville, TN currently I think)
Bruce Smith (from the Mississippi Delta)
Andy Cole (reportedly disfellowshipped while serving as CO several years ago)
Everett Bickam
Henry and Beverly Jackson (Texas, Mississippi, Alabama)
Recognize any of these? Who were your past Circuit Overseers?

does anybody personally know people at bethel that are "apostate" but still undercover?
surely there has to be a handul at least.
perhaps they are still there, until they can get things in order to leave...
Let me mention, I'm not looking for names. But if you do know certain ones, can you tell us how many "apostates" you know of that are at Bethel?

my sister went to the st. louis mo.
convention because she has an old nonwitness friend there she can stay with.
we are in georgia.
And there we have it - our HOPES for a "large exodus" because of the new generation teaching are shattered.
I think we will see some awaken though. Every person that leaves is one more person in the army to awaken others. One person in my family left two years ago: as a result 6 people now have left and we hope for even more in the next year or so. We have at least 7 more people in the bullseye. Every person that comes out puts more and more pressure on the others to wake up.
So even if only 100 people leave out of 7 million worldwide - those hundred WILL make a difference. Slowly but surely. And the thousands that are already out are still working too.
Last year, the ORG baptized 276,000 people. The average publisher increase over one year was only 216,000. So we know that many left/went inactive. It's too bad we can't ascertain the number that "awakened". But every person counts.

Desi - I was 11. My parents NEVER pressured me once on this issue. My parents were very big on reading, and as small kids (1 yr thru 5 yrs) we read constantly. Thus I was a great fluent reader by the time I was in 2nd grade. So by the time I was 11, I was quite adept at reading, so I guess I understood most JW things/organization rules, etc by that time.
I do remember wanting to be able to carry the microphones, and baptism was a requirement for that.

wiki answers has the following answer.
only if the blood has been broken down into smaller parts that we call fractions.. firstly the 'faithful and discreet' slave are the 10 or so men in brooklyn that make up our organization's governing body.
these men, the 'faithful and discreet slave' class, tell us not to give or receive whole blood or four main parts of blood, based on their understanding of acts 15 and therefore we are obeying jesus' direct commands as explained in the following quote,.
So if a young person was dating, and they only fondled a "fraction" of the other person's body, would that be okay?

i consider myself an intelligent woman...maybe not strong on the 'common sense' front, but academically i've done pretty well...so...how on earth did i not see through it all when i was studying in the beginning???.
i remember worrying about their 'sales pitching' styles and their arrogance of believing they had the 'truth' ...but still i got involved and became totally immersed in it all.
i feel like i sacrificied our whole family to them, who now shun me.. yesterday, my new son in law, he's a lawyer, asked me how i could have believed it wasnt a cult (topical word this week here) he said he didnt understand how i could have been persuaded to believe it all and trust them with so much and for so many years...... i feel ashamed of myself that i did and that i brought all this upon our family...anyone else relate?.
Since leaving, my BS meter is now on high alert. If somebody wants me to believe something, then I must see the proof.

i have to confess: in my last 3 - 5 years in field circus, i basically only went to neighborhoods that were extrememly poor and thus i knew they would be favorable to the message.
i always had my own territory checked out, and even if an elder suggested i join another group in working another territory, i always had plenty of reasons why i needed to work mine.
(bible study or rv that i had to make at 11 am, etc...blah blah blah..lol).
When a person came to the door and objected - I was out of there. I NEVER tried to overcome conversation stoppers in my 25 years.
