if you were raised a jw, how well did you research the history of the org.
before you were baptized?
if you were a convert to the watchtower society , how well did you know the doctrines of the faith before your conversion?

seems like i read here that wt & a subscriptions were done away with.
is that correct, and if so when and why?
i can only imagine it would be a cost savings reason.
I used to handle the subscriptions and that was a real pain..

the wbt$ association with the united nations should have been a big deal.....it`s not... jehovah`s witness`s don`t care... the wbt$ pedophile problem should have been a big deal.....it`s not... jehovah`s witness`s don`t care... the "generation change" should have been a big deal.....it`s not... jehovah`s witness`s don`t care... .
if the wbt$ can do anything it wants.....and.....jehovah`s witness`s don`t care what the wbt$ does... is there anything in watchtower world, that matters..besides being obedient to the wbt$?...
............................ ...outlaw.
So true..

watchtower says 607 bce.
i decided to dig into this matter myself at the public library yesterday.
i examined every book i could find that contained facts about jerusalem.
Update: Part 2 of my research was conducted today. I went to another library, and have posted my results on a new thread here:
Enjoy!

approximately five weeks ago, i visited the local library and searched every book i could find that discusses the destruction of jerusalem in ancient times.
if you didn't see that thread, you can find it here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/192813/1/607-b-c-e-a-trip-to-the-local-library-with-pictures.
the results were conclusive: all secular sources agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce.

Today, I visited another library in another city in order to contine the research. Below are the snapshots of every set of encyclopedias and the articles that mention the destruction of Jerusalem. Once again, the results were conclusive: Every source I located agrees that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 BCE. Below is the proof for your examination. I hope this proves helpful to many.

stephen prothero was on the "colbert report" tonight discussing his new book: "god is not one: the eight rival religions that run the world--and why their differences matter".
it looks quite interesting.
have you heard of this guy?

i just can't contain my mirth (and disgust ) about the the history of the wt soc any more!.
the history of miller and his teachings, barbour being a millerite and a guide to the then young russell cemented the truth of the modern day wt organizations history as opposed to its own whitewashed version of history.. for 37 years i saw them as the one true religion.
now i just see them as total frauds.
I fee ya Aussie - miller and barbour was one of the first subjects I got deep into after reading CoC. It's laughable when you read their history and see how CT Russell got hooked up in the same stuff.

my dad hasn't spoken to me in about 18 months after we had a fight over the wts.
(see thread i started then: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/170916/1/id-like-to-shoot-my-dad ).
so, today he calls me and leaves a message that he's having a "family reunion" on june 26 and i'm welcome to come and bring the family.
My first reaction was that you should NOT go. But after Moshe's comment - perhaps I would agree that you maybe should go. Especially if your dad is up in age.

no matter what the society does to try to attempt to fix this generation debacle, there is no way they can ever get it in jwa minds that the end will come past 2014.. nobody even gets or understands the change.
nobody cares.
generation will always mean to them up to 100 years!
Blondie - Where do you get the figure of 70,000 leaving after the 1925 failed prediction? Interesting. I don't think I have seen an actual number before.

a few years back, before i had any doubts and when i was a hardcore jw, i remember a super-pioneer-jw sister was conversing with me.
i made the comment about some of my friends at work (all non-witnesses).
she stops me mid sentence and says "friends?

I made the comment about some of my friends at work (all non-witnesses). She stops me mid sentence and says "Friends? You mean just associates, right? Surely you don't consider those worldly people at work your friends".
Even as a JW, I personally never had an attitude quite this strict. I rarely ever hung out or went to eat with non-witness workmates, but I certainly called them my friends.
What about you? Did you have JW friends like this?
