i am inactive and trying to fade as some of you know.
since my family in still in, i've been recieving "we me you" cards from the congo i was going to.
i have also recieved a few calls from the congo i move from that's out of the area.
I think I would send him a card in this case, as already mentioned. Being that you were close and he is (possibly?) dying with cancer.
Just my opinion.

by a girl at work.
i asked "what specifically?".
"the symposiums were great, each segment was short enough to keep you engaged" was the response.. my reply "so the wts is catering for the short attention span tv generation.".
The convention this year really was fantastic. Fantastic because I didn't have to go.

bluetooth headsets have drawn a confusion, between knowing who is talking to someone and who is simply a crazy person talking to themselves.
perhaps it is useful, but it removes that warning sign of this person is a major crazy person.
of course, most crazy people who talk to themselves ... claim to be talking to god.
I always laughed at the "douche-bag patrol" at the conventions..brothers walking around with their bluetooth earpieces in...people not working, but folks sitting in the audience with them in.
LOL

well, its been about 2 1/2 years and have slowly done less and less.
i've been to about 30 minutes of a meeting in the last month and a half where i stayed out back and with my daughter.. i've been looking for the right timing to leave but had decided i will go anyways by the time my daughter is about 1 years old.
but, it just so happens that my some members of my family including and mostly my parents have actually given me a good enough of an excuse to get out.. they have broken to many rules.
Welcome. Just remember, there are thousands of people that have been/or still in your situation. You are not alone. Glad to have you here.

i've been visiting this forum everyday, reading and waiting patiently for approval to post.
i've never been a jw.
my husband and daughter are.
Dealing with a cult mind requires very specific tactics. Steve Hassan's two books tackle this directly. The first book helps you understand Cults and how the cult mind thinks. His second book is entirely about breaking down cult mind control and tactics to motivate people to think for themselves.
We can give you more suggestions later, but there's really nothing you can do until you read these two books cover to cover. That's your starting point.

now that i'm out and looking back, it seems like such a dream.
i was in for 25 years.
did we really believe all this stuff?
Baltar - Have you read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz and Captives of a Concept by Don Cameryn?
I highly recommend them if you haven't. Captives of a Concept is a short read, probably 2 hours or so. It's a must read.

ok, so i finally picked up coc from my local library last night.
and started reading it like crazy.
i think i read about 70 pages which brought me close to the end of the second chapter: "governing body".
Not only do they defend it - they have 7 million people carrying a card in their wallet that says "Just let me die...I don't need your medical treatment"

my family is still fixated on the 1914 date, simply because world war i started that year.. i told them i will agree it is a significant year in world history, but that the 1914 date as presented by jw's is based on lies and charlatanry.. i said "i think the wt really lucked out with 1914 with wwi starting that year - it keeps most jw's stuck on that date" .
the standard answer is "well, that was the year everything went haywire"...... let the circular reasoning continue .
.
Beta Male - If you are referring to Sign of the Last Days - NO, you should be able to find it for less than 10 bucks. It was written in the mid 1980's.

recently, someone on here(i can't remember who) suggested the book, "who wrote the bible?".
i ordered it from amazon and my husband has read it and loved it.
it dealt mostly with the old testament.
My brother has read "Misquoting Jesus" and gives it a huge thumbs up.
