Laverite - My entire experience with school years ago was as a JW - thus an outcast. But now that I can go to school as a non-jw it is sooooo much fun. I have had a blast over the last 4 weeks. I have met lots of new friends and and am looking forward to many more semesters in the future.

Hello all. I have been absent on the forum for the past couple of months. I have previously been known on here as "mentallyfree31". I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself. My nane is Steve Broome. I live in south central Mississippi. My family was in the BORG for 25 years. Last December 2009, i awakened and realized I was in a cult. After this realization, i attended a few more meetings and then walked away for good.

I have been very busy over the past two months. I have enrolled in college for the first time in my life. I gave up college scholarships in order to pioneer back in 1995. I am planning on pursing a college degree in the medical field, perhaps physical therapy or nursing. I hope to narrow down my major in the next three months.

Many of you already know this, but leavingwt is my brother. He was the first to awaken from this cult. I also have at least 3 good friends that have awakened as well, who are on the forum also.

I will share more later, just decided today that I would quit lurking under an anoynomous username. So here I am. My identity is revealed. I am OUT of the cult, and the future has never looked brighter.

Horrifying Demon Attack: My Experience

on a warm summer day when i was about 12 years old (early 1980s), i was home alone for a brief time (family had gone to the grocery store).

i had always been terrified of the demons and was constantly worried about a possible demon attack.

being born in, growing up a dub, the devil and his demons were always either on my mind or not too far from conscious thought.

By the time this experience makes it to the Watchtower Magazine, they will edit out the earthquake part, and it will be an all-out demon attack. They are everywhere brothers, waiting to pounce on you!

hello- i'm arguing with my parents now... well, call it debating.

i'm trying to give them a question they'll actually think about- something that will make them want to do more research.

Would a J. W. of 1920 have been "in the truth" if he at that time then believed and taught present-day Watchtower doctrines? _____YES _____NO.

W. living in 1913 have been disfellowshipped from the Watchtower if he believed and taught that 1914 was not going to be the "battle of the great day of God Almighty" or Armageddon, as the Society was then saying (Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. II, The Time Is At Hand, 1908 ed., pp. 101, 172 and 245)? _____YES _____NO.

Did you know that the Watchtower once taught that 1874 was the "exact date" of the Lord’s return (Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. II, The Time Is At Hand, 1908 ed., p. 170)? _____YES _____NO.

Could the 1874 "exact date" change to 1914? _____YES _____NO

Since the Watchtower’s doctrines and practices are continually changing, would you say that thousands of J. W. s in the past were not really "in the truth," as they confidently confessed, according to present-day Watchtower teachings? _____YES _____NO.

Have thousands of J. W. s died believing and teaching Watchtower "errors," according to present-day Watchtower teachings? _____YES _____NO.

Are you sure the same won’t happen to you? _____YES _____NO.

Do you agree with the founder and first president of Jehovah’s Witnesses (Charles Taze Russell) who said that if one lays aside the Scripture Studies and goes to the Bible alone, "within two years he goes into darkness" (Watchtower, 9-15-10, p. 298)? _____YES _____NO.

"True, there have been those in times past who predicted an ‘end to the world,’ even announcing a specific date .... Yet, nothing happened. The ‘end’ did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing? ... Missing from such

HAS A DOUBLE STANDARD. In Acts 10:34-43, we read the Apostles Peter’s sermon that brought instant salvation to people who "received the word of God" (Acts 11:1). How much "accurate knowledge" did Cornelius and others have to take in to become Christians? _____MUCH _____NOT
VERY MUCH.

Did they have to submit to a 6 month book study, then join an organization before they were "saved" (Acts 11:14)? _____YES _____NO.

Are you going to try to forget about any Watchtower inconsistencies, deceptions, false prophecies, false claims, and heresies? _____YES _____NO.

If you were wrong, would you change? _____YES _____NO.

even before 1914 came around, the bible students still thought 1914 would be a pivital date.

the only way they can gain that info is from the 7 times or w/e.

Yes, i forgot about that dgb. Carl Oloff Johnson's book "The Gentile Times Reconsidered". I haven't read it yet, but I have it and will read it soon hopefully.

Demons and Their Children

i have heard that story about the flood, and the nephilim, millions of times and never made a connection that god actually destroyed the fallen angel's offspring.

the nephilim were always portrayed as monsters and evil, but who really knows.. interesting point.

Fortunately, I have a herd of swine that is grazing not too far from my house. So if the demons invade my mind and take over, I'm gonna cast them into those swine and hopefully they will run off of a cliff.

Where did 607 come from?

okay so we've obviously established on this board that 607 is not the correct date that babylon destroyed jerusalem.

even before 1914 came around, the bible students still thought 1914 would be a pivital date.

the only way they can gain that info is from the 7 times or w/e.

John Aquila Brown wrote about the 2,520 years prophecy before Charles Russell was born. His book was called "The Even Tide". But his span of dates was 604 BCE - 1917 CE. I can't remember what his 604 date was all about, and if it had anything to do with Jerusalem or some other event.

However, I do remember that Russell accepted the date of 1874 as the invisible return of christ. And there would be a 40 year harvest period, thus culminating in 1914 with Armageddon.

Sooooo, perhaps he just counted backwards from 1914 and reached 607 BCE.

Disclaimer: I do not have all the facts about this. This is merely a possibility. Please do not take this as a fact, because it is just some bits and pieces that I remember from reseraching Russell and 607 BCE a while back.

Do you believe the Bible?

i don't want to high jack african gb's thread but something got me thinking.... moses, abraham were inbred and hearing god's voice... paul never met jesus yet he is the only apostle coming down like a hammer of gays and has this "close bond" with timothy.

then there is the issue of "horus" the egyptian god and is this where the story of jesus comes from.

i have searched the internet for information on horus and have not had much luck finding anything authorative either way.. my question is do you or don't you believe in the bible and why or why not?

A talking snake made a woman eat a piece of fruit. Now billions of people are dying and getting sick because of that. God cares SO MUCH, but these damn angels are looking on so he can't do anything.
