Yes, ashamed, yes angry. Less so now that I know how it all works and that I've extracated myself from their control and learned to say no. It also meant that I was very gullible in my relationships - learned the hard way.

if anything my past as an adult jw makes me understand how easily manipulated people are by the people and environment around them.

Anyone who has been to Sachsenhausen and seen the small museum there would know those who survived would not have had the energy to steal loot off a wagon from armed soldiers.
Why were the prisoners standing in a line? Was it because they were liberated and able to walk off with the loot?
No. They were in a line because those that could stand were forced on the death March on 21st April 1945. There were armed soldiers around them. They had no food or water, most were physically exhausted. Those who fell were shot. They were not free and not in a position to steal loot from their captors.
Even the 3,000 left behind in Sachsenhausen who were too ill to go on the march were still there the following day despite being unguarded.
Clearly I was not there on that day nor have I spoken to anyone who was but I disbelieve the interpretation of the account or possibly the account itself.
I'd recommend anyone to go to Sachsenhausen - especially in the winter. It is a humbling experience.

gladimout - thanks for bringing this to our attention. It would be great to get updates on this and how it plays out in the media.
I'm still amazed that the blood issue isn't a bigger deal - that senior JW's are not in prison for the murder of children through their cultish policies. In terms of religious freedom would a modern Maya culture be allowed to sacrifice their children? Would it be tolerated?

am I missing something - show this picture to any kid and ask what they see and it's God, heaven, angels and a bunch of men in suits. So yeah I'd say jesus was missing from the pic.
And to a previous posters point - no large army of sisters... women are certainly under represented. This pic would and could never be used by any corporation given how lacking it is in diversity.

Did the bible contain pictures? Did jesus spend his days painting pictures? Why do they waste so much effort in producing and distributing stuff that isn't the original bible? They have gone so far as to invent their own style of artwork - what kind of waste of time, money, energy is that? The poor gimps in the art department having to do this - some may even have artistic talent. They are about 500 years behind the churches who turned to art to bring some glamour and reverence to themselves and scripture.
they are a religious Marvel comic wannabe - "cult" is the word that best fits

i guess i dont want to dwell on "ttatt" too much, though i am now an inactive jw now, and will be forever, i dont want to be defined by that.
but i will certainly keep an eye on this forum, contribute where i feel i can, and i must say thankyou to those who moderate it and keep it running.

er wow - beautifully written. So many things you see clearly. I hope it has helped you writing it down because it has helped me reading it. This is the first thread of yours I have read. i do not know you or the life you have had yet I can understand, and agree with your views on all the topics you have raised. Maybe that's because what we were taught as JW's was not logical, was not right and a normal reasoning person who is not under their control would also agree.

evidently Paul meant "the hope of salvation" to specifically include shunning anyone who the 20th & 21st century faithful & discreet slave class has labelled an apostate and keeping away from the internet.
