  How Come I Rarely See People In Field Service, Vs The 1980-1990s Doing House2House?

  field service hours have hit new records each year, but i am seeing less people working the territory.

  where is all the time spent, that people are putting in the field ministry?

  it's been close to ten years, since i have seen people working certain territories.

  They did my road on Saturday, I was driving home and saw a group of maybe 8 or 10, mostly teenage girls standing on the corner. They finished the long road 20 minutes later so clearly no-one was interested. It's the first time in years I've seen them though. I used to get mormons call more frequently or charity workers wanting donations which is probably quite unusual for the UK.

  In my old territory we used to cover it consistently every 6-9 months for 20 years, however given that not homes were done twice, it might have seemed as though we called every few months.

  among the ammenities are a sand volley ball court, two tennis courts and a full basketball court.... there's also parking garages and picnic areas for visitors.... by the way, not sure exactly what this is but you'll notice a shaded area labelled "undergound chamber"... interesting.... (i wonder if moving out to the middle of nowhere was intended to keep bethelites from sneaking out at night and going to the liquor store... just saying).

  hey am I missing something here?... 30 hours in a month and you get called a pioneer???

  That's basically a sales job handing out leaflets for 4 Saturdays - how does that in any way shape or form live up to the definition of a pioneer?

  in my congregation i could name at least 10 brothers, and likely more, who just couldnt wait for armageddon to come.

  the way they spoke about it clearly showed that they were just so excited.

  you could just see their eyes light up at the prospect of the wicked being destroyed and removed from this earth.

  I used to find those make-believe conversations so wierd. Luckily most of the younger dubs I spent time with were focused very much on the here and now. In fact most would change the subject if raised - I think they were uncomfortable talking about it because it was simply too unreal - showed they didn't actualy believe it.

  This tactic will work - for some it is very hard to say no especially to a personal request from an elder. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

  What does the phrase the "dirty thirty" relate too - surely not how many hours is required now? have I been out that long?

  What are the target hours for Auxiliary, Regular Auxiliary and Regular Pioneering?

  hi all.

  the irish branch has had lots of drama over the years from john may in the 1980s to the recent removal of practically all the branch committee in the mid noughties to its being closed down quite recently.. i heard on the grapevine that two of the branch committee had actually come to physical blows and there was blood on the carpet.. also many many witnesses spoke of the totalitarian environment there.. does anyone have anything further to corroborate or add to this?.

  I believe I read on JWN it was closed due to a widespread cost cutting exercise although no doubt there would be a number of other issues involved such as control. The branch was pretty tiny (effectively a large extended house) with only a dozen or two of live-ins so probably very quick to bring those duties in-house to London bethel.

  It certainly would have been perceived as a negative step from the Irish JW's perspective no matter what spin was used.

  Some JW's owe personal apologies for being nasty, rude, pius, controlling etc

  Parents owe me a serious apology for all those years of total b/s

  Financial compensation for all those missed birthday and xmas presents. Also for all the promotions one has been overlooked for due to an inadequate education.

  Financial compensation to take a year out of employment and do all the things I missed out on when I was busy pioneering.

  What does the government pay for wrongly imprisioning someone and taking years of their life?

  Financial compensation for all the hours spent on fs, building kh's and listening to talks. Minimum wage would do plus petrol money - not like I was very skilled labour.

  Did field service ever scare any one.

  i was always scared somewhat by who i might meet at the door.. where i live we just had a mom murdered with her two young sons.

  it is really sad, from what i just read in the paper the husband and wife took in this young man he was 22 years old and needed a place to stay.

  he had been with them for months and had celebrated christmas and thanksgiving with all the family, etc.

  wow - shocking all shocking

  I had the luxury of mostly working nice UK territory so no guns or real danger, only the self imposed fear of seeing someone from school or later on work. At the fs group I would be very quick to get sight of the maps and pick something that avoided certain streets -and aim for something as tucked away as possible. It may seem feeble in comparison to most of these other experiences but for me at times it was a huge issue.

  the various links show pictures of the interiors - some of them must have been dressed up to sell but I bet they weren't too shabby beforehand! Hardly the modest accomodation that Jesus would have expected from his true followers. If this was another religion it would be slammed by speakers from the platform.
