  would you be an active witness or even an inactive one if you could change a few things?

  for example: let's say the blood issue could be resolved, would you stay?

  or if 1914 doctrine was dissolved or the disfellowshipping/ shunning view changed?

  Reasoning on this is like reasoning: if the you could time travel would you change history?

  It's kind of far-fetched that things would ever change to the interests we have as individuals now that we are outside of the borg.

  There would have to be massive changes in order for me to go back, but if all those changes happend, yes I would go back.

  i think its about time we do something about jws organisation,we must take a stand and not hold back and the more of us that do it the better, otherwise there just going to get away with it in time.we must show these so called christians that we are powerful even if we r a minority.im up to making a stand by protest at assemblys.congregations etc.

  Pandora, not trying to belabor a point, but would people ask? Personally I wouldn't, but that's me. I see people in a booth or gathered around and I think...hmm wonder what that is, and walk on.

  Rule number one in advertising, get as much info and concise as possible in a tiny space. Don't leave it up to them to ask because they probably won't has been my experience.

  Personally I think we need to start our own TRUTH campagin, kind of like they have the truth commercials about smoking...similar spots need to be done about the borg...hahaha!

  Spice I totally agree, being positive is the key, in fact I agree and thinking a United W-DUB day is a great idea because it has nothing to do with the current JW (like protesting a congregation, convention) and focuses on those of us who were brave enough to escape( and do deserve recognition for that day), but my question wasn't directed at you, it was to Hau because I don't really understand what he/she is trying to acomplish with this thread...I am curious and would love to help, with more info and with more specifics.

  There are several approaches to be taken and each will have a different effect, that is the point I am trying to make.

  I smell a troll...crawdad you never actually read peoples posts with a rational thought do you?

  We all see what you are trying to do, but it is not helpful at all, and when people point this out to you, you go off the deep end and put words in peoples mouths. NO ONE SAID this shouldn't be talked about. But writing stories by someone who is an outsider (you weren't in the bar were you?) does nothing to lend credence to cause, but rather gives detractors reasons to not listen at all and dismiss you as a fantatic, or bitter individual. In fact it can be labeled as propoganda and jumping to conclusions which is what the WT society does all the time, do you really want to be just like them?

  I am not demeaning ANYTHING those children went through. It should be talked about and talked about often. Hell it should be screamed about from the top of peoples lungs, but this is not the right approach to take crawdad and you should put your efforts elsewhere instead of attacking the people who agree with you.

  this honestly seem to be message im getting from most jws.think about it whats more important the source or the information ie:say for instance i was an ex jw and told a witness who new me there house was on fire would they believe me, or label me as being unspiritual and liar.they seem to think that the watchtower society is jehovah, if he tells them to jump its matter of how high?

  Dana, I couldn't agree more...everyone needs to do what they think will work for them.

  Frankly my parents and I have had some great conversations, especially about the pedophile issue. But I think if they would have known most of my information came from Silent Lambs, and not just Dateline they would have listened to me. If you know people to be rationale just gun shy it's worth a shot. And I have never felt like I walked on eggshells with my parents. I have been pretty blunt and frank with them, I just don't disclose all of my sources. LOL!

  But yes, everyone has to choose their own way in dealing with this.

  I think this is because of the way most people enter the borg. Like my parents and many others, they were at a weak moment, fed up with their previous religion, or unaware of any religion. They get sucked in, plus the Borg tells them that they are the only ones who can answer their questions, who have an accurate understanding etc. Plus the Borg is really good about isolating their people, and telling them only what they need to hear. If you take any group of people lock them in a cement building and then create your own newscasts, polls, "facts" and figures they will believe whatever you tell them. They have no frame of reference, and believe that those giving them the news have no reason to lie, and that they even have their best interests at heart.

  You spend so much time in the Borg and eventually their thinking becomes second nature. My parents can quote you any scripture that the borg has used for the past 30 years to back a doctrine. Heck the answer they give you when you ask "why" might even read just like a WT publication if you were to transcribe it. During their rough time they clung to the "truth" as a rock. And the people can be sweet and supportive at first. It sucks you in.

  In my parents case, my sister died at a very young age. I honestly believe they cling to the borg because they want to be reunited with her, and they don't want her to wake up in the resurection without them, so they have to be the very best witnesses they can be to be there for her. Church Rehetoric always sounds so good to those who need comforting, have had a loss, or want hope. It's hard to let that go.
