ok--very unlike me to be reflective or meditate...especially on things of a biblical nature, but today i was home sick and left with thoughts and a lot of cold medicine, so here i am with my bible based thought of the day...what do you people make of this: .

"and the lord god said unto the serpent because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life" .

does that mean snakes had legs at some point?

pom thanks for treating me like an idiot, I know what a metaphor is...I'm an english major for crissakes! I fail to see how you know that the tree is a real event, and not a metaphor and that the snake IS a metaphor. We have snakes now today too, so your arguement that trees are real and grow fruit is not a very good one...trees do not give you knoweldge and God does not talk to us and ban us from eating fruit.

My personal opinion the first chapters of Genesis are ALL metaphor. Adam and Eve not really two individuals, Cain and Abel a lovely metaphor for the rivalry between farmers and ranchers, etc. I'm quite aware of the idea that metaphor abounds in the Bible, I am also quite aware that there is an idea that the creation accounts are two seperate stories and possibly written by two groups of people, and merged together later...I was trying to have fun with the idea of flying snakes, and point out how absurd it is to try and take anything in the Bible and interpret it into truth statements.

If the equation begins in metaphor, keep it all metaphor

So what preceeds this is adam and eve eating of the tree...does this mean this is a metaphor too, there was no real tree?

i'm new here and this is the first post i make (i promise that more will come).

i have been following most of the posts made here quietly for about 4 months and i would like to thank all of you who are called apostates for the well documented and researched material you have presented here.thanks to you i know now the truth about the wt organization and i'm no longer blind and misled.

i disassociated myself about 2 months ago after 15 years of very "faithful" service to the society.i was regular pioneer for 12 years and an elder for 8 years, i served mainly as the service overeer.my experience was published in the 2 of the society's magazins.. as i was a very zealous and prominent elder in my circuit i zealously promoted the organizational rules and i allowed myself to be fully used by the society to promote those mind controle techniques that now i know hurt those who were my sheep.

the more ashamed I feel about my part i played there in pushing organizational rules,in teaching false ideas and doctrines,in puting pressure to do more in the field service,in making people feel guilty,in judging others inside and outside the organization and many other suchlike crimes the organization is guilty of.

Elon, you were mislead, there is no reason to feel shame. You thought you were doing the right thing. And by disassociating yourself, you who were a loyal and zealous brother, you are in an inadvertant way leaving more seeds of dobut for you flock. I wouldn't be surprised if a few try to get in contact with you, and you can start a new preaching campagin!

Well yeah I get that part...snake is a puppet, satan is a nasty snake in the grass type creature...but why curse it to crawl on it's belly...implying that it did not before locomote in a belly fashion...
